BDAY Gift Problem,..group gifts... Help
A group of friends had gotten me a birthday gift. I know that they spent 100 dollars on my gift card.
We normally spend equal amounts on everyone's gift.
Now, another friend in the groups bday is coming. We will be going out to dinner too, but the gift that was chosen by others is 100 dollars more than the gift I was given.
Am I being petty? Should I mention something to the leader? Do I forget the whole thing and move on?
WWYD?

I do not compare gifts.
I graciously accept what I am given and I do the same for others. I cannot nickle and dime on what I contribute to others as oppsed to what I am given.

You are so right,...I think I should just move on. I am upset though.

Dude this is super lame of your friends.
I mean if you're going to give somebody something where it's obvious what the amount spent was...
don't be obviously twice as spendy on the next birthday on the roster.
That's just common sense.
HOWEVER, there's no way to gracefully point this out without seeming ungrateful.

Sorry you feel bad
Think of it this way...my friend is into photgraphy, and maybe we all pitch in to get her a new lens. I would be thrilled to get her something she wouldn't get for herself. At the same time, I can't fault my friends for not spending the same because I don't have a hobby like that...KWIM?

So true, but both are gift cards...not like an individualized gift.

I might be in the minority but I would be a little upset too. If you weren't included in the gift giving and just heard through the grapevine that is a little different, but in this situation you are part of the group. If the group tends to give them same to everyone for birthdays and than all of a sudden one person gets ALOT more that's rude to me.
Who is the "leader" handling the giftcard? I would just ask why giving so much...don't we usually give xx each?
