BF & night feeding question
I really appreciate all of the feedback I have been getting regarding BF.
So the last two nights, my DS is sleeping! I had to wake him around 4 hours one night and last night he went over 5 hours and was still sleeping (I wouldn't usually let him go that long but my alarm didn't go off).
Is this normal at 16 days of age? Do I nurse on demand at night or is there a time-limit that I wake him up to nurse no matter what?
I nurse him every 2 1/2-3 hours during the day. I wake him if necessary always during the day.

Personally,I wouldn't wake him. He will just eat more during the day.

Re: BF & night feeding question
If he is gaining weight well & plenty of wet/dirty diapers, I would BF on demand at night too. He will let you know when he is hungry My DS was in the NICU for the first 4 weeks of his life and was woken every 3 hours around the clock to eat (obviously it was a weight thing as he was little)---but that was a very hard habit to break once he was bigger & home.

Re: BF & night feeding question
As long as he is gaining weight, never wake a sleeping baby. Our DS was sleeping 6 hours or so straight when we got home from the hospital. We never woke him and he's healthy as a horse now. He'd wake up when he was hungry, don't worry.
Unfortunately for us he hasn't slept more than 6 hours straight in a while now, but what can you do?

Re: BF & night feeding question
My ped said not to wake them at night for feedings. Especially if they are eating well the rest of the time.
