BF with teeth ~ How do I get him to stop biting me?

OUCH!!!!!!! DS has 2 teeth on the bottom and 2 more trying to come through on top. I guess he's figuring out how they work bc everytime I BF, he not only bites me but he pulls... He's only 6.5 months so it's not like he really knows what he's doing. How do I get him to stop before he has a mouthful of teeth??

I find that biting while BF'ing is like a little phase they go through. My DD is 16 months and every once in a while she goes through a little playful biting phase.

But when she did bite me I did shout NO at her, and look her right in the eye. She always stopped after a few days.

I am going through the same thing with DD right now but she doesn't have teeth...so I can't imagine how much it must hurt you!! She bites, turns her head and pulls..OUCH!

I have been pulling her off and sternly saying NO. But right now she just smiles at me! I asked yesterday and another poster told me to try and gently pinch her nose..I haven't tried that yet.

Try saying "no" while giving him a stern look and unlatch him. He'll catch on! In the meantime, lasinoh cream helps.

I definitely found that it was a phase as well. Every time my son got a new tooth, he would "test" it out on my nipple! It was only for a few days though. When he bit down, I would stick my finger in his mouth and unclench his teeth, then calmly, but firmly tell him "No, please don't bite, that hurts Mommy." and I would end the nursing session. He learned very quickly that biting=no more nursing, so that didn't really fly with him! I also found that he always bit towards the end of the session, when he got more playful, so I would try to pay close attention to when he stopped being as seripus about drinking, or not as focused on It, then I could end it before he got to the biting part! HTH!

When he bites, smoosh his face into your boob for a few seconds. He won't like it and he will stop after a few times. That is how I got DD to stop biting me (not even during BF, she just randomly bites AND only me!!) She still does it sometimes but after the first smoosh she remembers!

With DS I found that he bit me only when he was not hungry and wanted off or when he was done and was just fooling around. I would give a stern NO and remove him from the breast.

He got it pretty quick and only bit me 2 or 3x.

Whenever he does it, I do say NO and give him a stern look... he just laughs at me!! Such a little wiseass already!

I really hope this is a phase bc it seriously kills. Do you think I should just close up shop when he does it? Will that help him get the hint?

I echo the others, I found it was a phase - a quick one, thankfully.

I unlatched, gave a stern 'No!' and covered up for a minute or so - just enough time for her to become fussy bc she was hungry.

Once I did that combination the 'phase' ended (in a day or 2).

I was worried BFing when my LO gets teeth. Now I know what to do! Thanks
