I average about 3 oz each session. this mornining i pumped at 8:30am, feed her at 9 for a quick little nipper- I know she didnt get much and pumped when i got to work at 11:30am and only put out 1.5 oucnes!! w t f?? my next session is at 3:30 and i hope i get a lot more but i dont know what to do?!!? i have to give her atleast 4.5 ounce bottles and it is taking me too long to make up a day's supply while i am at work!!

It could be a bunch of things. First off your breasts need to get use to the pump, babies are more efficient at getting milk out.
Are your horns the right size? Are you experiencing any pain when pumping? You may need a larger horn
Also, you shoud use some lubrication on the nipple when pumping for it to me more effective and prevent blisters etc. I use organic olive oil which is what is reccomended for a natural alternative.
ALso try a heating pad on your breasts before you pump and compressions (pressing on the breasts/massaging them) when pumping.
I've been exclusively pumping since Lexi was born, we are still working on getting to the breast eventually!
Here is a great forum all about pumping.

Re: BFing moms how much do you get out of a pumping session?
it ranges from 1.5 - 4.5 oz each session. I've noticed that my supply is diminishing a bit, so I started nursing again, hoping to get it back up. Drink plenty of water, I find it helps a lot.

Re: BFing moms how much do you get out of a pumping session?
DD is 5 months old. I feed her at 5am from 1 breast. I then pump out both breasts at 7am and usually get 8oz from the one she didn't nurse on, and 4-5 out of the one she did.
12pm (at work) 5-6 from each breast
4pm nurse her and pump out the other breast, so I get about 6-7 ounces.
I am a cow, I know.

Re: BFing moms how much do you get out of a pumping session?
I've been pumping 7-8 ounces per pumping session. I've been storing about 16 ounces per day for when I go back to work in 3 months.

Re: BFing moms how much do you get out of a pumping session?
I can't believe some people get so much from pumping! I only get max - 3 oz between both boobs and that is when she hasn't eaten in awhile. I know she is getting enough because she is gaining weight like crazy and has lots of pee/ poo diapers, but I wish I could get as much as you guys do!

Re: BFing moms how much do you get out of a pumping session?
I never got more than 3 oz per session (unless I was engorged and overdue to pump). I dunno, I simply think I'm not a big producer
Then again, now that I'm back to work, my supply is diminishing even further becuase I'm not pumping nearly as often as I should
But, DS is already 6 mo and starting to eat foods, so I'm starting to wind it down a smidge.... I won't lie, I'm not diligent enough to EBF

Re: BFing moms how much do you get out of a pumping session?
When pumping at work, I'd get 4 1/2 - 6 oz per session. A little more if I had to go more than 3 hours due to meetings.

Re: BFing moms how much do you get out of a pumping session?
I typically get 5-9 oz. per pump, depending on how long it's been since she nursed.
This is a concern of mine for when I go back to work as well--I know that nursing helps maintain supply and I'm worried that my supply will start to diminish once I go back

Re: BFing moms how much do you get out of a pumping session?
I have twins but I am getting anywhere from 8-14 oz per session. I was getting 16-18 at one point but I've gotten lazy with pumping since one of my sons is on formula now for allergies.
ETA-I had to pump into Dr Browns bottles because I was overflowing the ones that came with my pump.
Some suggestions:
More Milk(product from Motherlove) pump more often superpump(pump for 10 mins rest for 5 for 3 X) do that every 3 hrs for a weekend-your supply should be better by Monday Remember that this is a living thing-the more you request the more they will produce but consistency is key. Look at pictures of your baby or think about her when you pump Good luck!
