BFing moms- probably really dumb question about adding BM to cereal
So Shane is 6 months and I'm starting him on oatmeal (we're skipping rice as he already has constipation issues). So, my dumb question of the morning is....how am I adding a few tbsps of BM to the cereal.....did you take out the whole pump just to get a few tbsps....or did you defrost an entire bag of BM? I'm sure I'm overthinking but I can't picture what I'm supposed to do....
I'm just trying to figure out the logistics of getting that small amount of BM.

I stopped adding BM after a while and just used water, but when I did it, I either took some that I had just pumped or used milk that was in the refrigerator. I wouldn't defrost a whole bag unless you plan on using the rest of the milk later that day.

same here. I would either pump a little and add it then or use some from a bottle that I had in the fridge. I just use water most of the time because it is so much easier. Ped said it is totally fine.

Same here. If I have a bottle in the fridge and no time to pump right before the cereal, I pour most of the milk into a glass and warm up 2 oz that are left in it...then I can still use the majority of the milk later for a bottle.

I either kept some BM in the fridge regularly that I could just pour out and add to cereal or I had defrosted a 1 oz bag of BM from the freezer. (When I stored BM in the freezer, I had bags ranging from 1 oz to 6 oz.)
