Blinds on Windows (This is not HOME related!)

Please don't move this to the HOME borad! TY!

We just got a new neighbor next door. It's a single guy who lives there alone. I think he has a girlfriend who stays w/him on the weeknds. The house/property is very tiny and there is a sun porch on the side that faces my house with HUGE windows.

Would you put up shades, blinds, or curtains up? He has these huge windows that totally overlook my backyard. Every time we're out in the yard we feel like he's sitting at his table enjoying the view of our yard watching us. It's really uncomfortable. We have a big house and property and a really nice yard.

Now he's put up a large plasma tv and everytime I look out my bedroom window I can see what he's watching. My dog goes crazy barking.

We're putting up HUGE trees this summer because it'd driving my husband and I crazy.

I would put blinds up, I wouldn't like to be able to see a neighbor that closely. I would also feel like if I was the one with the huge windows and facing your home, it would be more like an obligation to put them up.

Re: Blinds on Windows (This is not HOME related!)

I'm on the other side of this situation. My house is a few feet higher than my neighbor's and so is my deck. I can see whenever anyone is in their back or side yard. They also have three very large windows right next to each other facing my house but they never open the blinds.

I keep my blinds halfway down and my sliding door shade halfway across when we're home and closed when we're not or at night.

I would probably put something up also if I were you, since it appears your neighbor won't. Hopefully he's not secure enough to walk around naked. Chat Icon Chat Icon

As far as trees go, when you're ready to go that route, ask the Home board. We'll have lots of suggestions on living privacy screens that won't cause problems for you. Chat Icon
