Blood work question
When I called the Dr. last week for my blood work results (it was my first appointment and they did all the blood work) the girl said everything was normal. She didn't give me any numbers or anything...is that normal? My next appointment is the 15th of January but I thought that they tell you your numbers or make sure your numbers are doubling not really sure what I should be asking...

Re: Blood work question
if they say everything is normal, I would not worry. I know when I was pregnant, I did not even get a beta test or if I did, they never told me the #'s and I did not have to go back in 2 days to check for the numbers doubling

ITA. I had first trimester blood work done, but that didn't include a beta test. Not all doctors do that type of test.

Re: Blood work question
Unless you were seeing an RE or were classified high risk, they most likely weren't even testing your beta. They're testing for various diseases, whether or not you're a carrier for various chromosomal abnormalities, STDs and all the routine blood panel stuff you'd have done at a normal dr appt. I never had my beta tested. So if they say everything looks good, then it does.

Re: Blood work question
I had the same worries as you. When I went for my first visit @ 4 weeks, I alled the next day and they told me everything was ok. I asked what my beta was (I remember it was 98). She said I was normal for an early pregnancy. I then asked if I had to return in a few days to see if they are doubling and I was so shocked she told me NO! Then I asked for my progesterone and she said they dont draw that. I was so confused bc I knew on these boards many girls talk about their betas, doubling betas and progesterone and i just assumed it was all standard. The NP at my OB's office explained that they only do that testing if their was indication for it and I didnt have any. So, I did feel uneasy at first, but then realized that was the norm! So dotn worry! YOu are fine! HTH!!

Re: Blood work question
I always hear about girls on here talking about betas and increasing numbers. I was never told of anything of the sort and was always told my tests were normal. I believe the beta tracking is more for high risk pregnancies.

Re: Blood work question
I received a packet in the mail that just said that all of my levels were within normal range. It included all of the pregnancy info that my OB had gone over with me. I did not receive a call nor did I receive specific numbers.
