Does anyone drive those vehicles? Any rants or raves?
Im in the market for a small SUV (im selling my mom the Xterra I currently boat around in).
Thanks!

Re: BMW X3 or Acura RDX
My husband has the BMW X3, and while I don't have the Acura RDX (I have a Honda CR-V which I believe is close to the Acura. My SUV seems to be roomier than the X3 in terms of trunk space and back seat space.

I love the X3!
My mom has it and I drive it every time I'm in NY. It's very spacious without being TOO big - and I love how it drives. We're actually thinking of getting one when we have kids

Don't have the X3, but do have a BMW and cannot say enough about how wonderful the dealership service on it is from the time I bought it through today.

Re: BMW X3 or Acura RDX
Right now, I'm driving an X3 due to my car accident two weeks ago. I was driving my 325XI wagon and got into accident. My car was totaled by insurance. My BMW absolutely saved my life. Prior to my wagon, I had three X3's.
What questions do you have? The car is awesome. Great in the snow and around 20-24 MPG. I have no complaints. We are strictly a BMW family.

Re: BMW X3 or Acura RDX
Thanks for the input!
I was looking at buying a certified pre owned X3, they are doing 0.9% financing and the warranty is great.

Re: BMW X3 or Acura RDX
I would get the X5.
we were looking for a smaller suv...and looked at the X3 since we love our Z.
my sil had problems with her last acura, but more with the service dept.
bmw has an incredible service dept.
but in terms of space...I would either get the XI wagon OR the X5.
the X3 doesn't have much more room than the wagon, and has much less than the X5 and the difference in price isn't that much.
we ended up with a special edition subaru forester (which we really really LOVE) but were thisclose to getting an X5.

I didn't think of the X5. I'll test drive both!

Re: BMW X3 or Acura RDX
I just got rid of my Mercedes, and will never deal with Competition Imports again. From start to finish, they were horrible (CDs stolen out of car...8 months pregnant, and they give me a loaner car that looks like it was a death trap and filthy, appointments that were confirmed by me, and then they have nothing scheduled, confirmed loaner cars for while my car gets inspected and they claim they have None left, etc......the list goes on and on and on.)
Just picked up the Acura RDX, and so far I really like it, it has the "technology package"...whatever that means.
I'm slowly learned about the car, but so far so good.

Re: BMW X3 or Acura RDX
The X5 is considerably more $$$ than the X3.
I was thinking about getting an X3 myself. The 0.9% financing is attractive, but it's only for 2006 models and older.

Re: BMW X3 or Acura RDX
Both cars are great cars. I *love* the look of the BMW myself.
You can't go wrong with either one -- they both have great write-ups. I would go with whichever one you like better, take them for a drive, and whichever one you get a better deal on! Good luck!

Acura actually has all of the above! I believe it may be the first 30 oil changes are free. I always get a loaner, and my car always leaves the shop washed. They also have food and drinks.

this is very true, and I also feel like the insides of the acura are more "plush" I guess is the word? BMW your paying a lot of $ for the name.
I would test drive both if I were you

Acura doesn't have nearly the same amount of free service as BMW.
BMW gives you TOTAL free maintenance. You don't just get cheap oil changes. You get brake pads, rotors, wipers, scheduled inspections, among a whole bunch of other things. Basically anything in the service schedule you get for free.

Re: BMW X3 or Acura RDX
ugh.... BMW's my mom has had nothing but grief with hers... within the first 3 years of owning hers, she spent more than $3k in repairs (not maintenance... REPAIRS) I should add this was before they started that free repair program for new cars.... As a toyota/honda loyalist, I cannot phathom why mom puts up with that.... my DH has spent $0 in repairs within the first 3 years of owning his scion.... and I have spent $0 in repairs in the first 2 years of owning my prius.
I would avoid them.... Acura has very good repair histories according to consumer reports... HTH!

Re: BMW X3 or Acura RDX
SO had to test drive the X3 the RDX and the Inifiniti EX last year as a training program for Infiniti when the EX came out. He said out of all 3 cars the RDX handled the absolute worst.

Re: BMW X3 or Acura RDX
I don't have any experience w/ BMW - but I've owned 2 Acuras and have never once had a problem with their sales, service, or anything - Definitely test rive both - I'm SURE the BMW drives like a dream, but I can tell you the MDX drives AWESOME - so I'm sure the smaller one drives just as nice - and I'm not usually comfortable in SUVs b/c I am used to a smaller car -
I now have a VW and would NEVER in a million years buy another one !! - I SO miss my Acura .........
