Breaking Bad Series Finale 9/29 [Spoilers, obviously]
What did we think?
I was on Twitter and Facebook right after and didn't see anyone complaining about how they chose to end it. I'm pretty satisfied. I'm glad Walt was able to rescue Jesse even though that's not what he went there for.
I imagine Jesse finally valuing his life and moving somewhere where he can open up a woodworking shop and live happily ever after.

Breaking Bad Series Finale 9/29 [Spoilers, obviously]
I loved the ending. Sooooo happy Walt saved Jesse. And that whole scene with the gun in the trunk was INSANE.

Re: Breaking Bad Series Finale 9/29 [Spoilers, obviously]
I loved it...they wrapped up everything and gave closure for so many characters.
The gun scene...holy shit.
Then Jesse getting out of there, driving like a maniac and screaming - I lost it at that point - he's finally free. I love his character...I'm so happy with the way he was freed and how Walt saved him.
The flashbacks too - those tore at my heart.
Walt seeing Holly and Junior for the last time...confessing to Skyler...taking some responsibility for once!
I can't think of a series ending that was as great as this was.

It really was good.. you knew by the way he caressed Holly that it would be the last time he saw her.. gave me chills...

Re: Breaking Bad Series Finale 9/29 [Spoilers, obviously]
I was watching YouTube montages and they showed Walt saying to Jesse in one of the first episodes "I'm alive"... same thing he said to Sklyar in the last episode.
That's one of the things I loved about the show - they bring things full circle and repeat elements. Walt shooting that guy the same way the guy shot Hank.
I just keep thinking, with all their faults, that the biggest love story throughout was Jesse and Walt. I don't see how Vince Gilligan can ever top this but I do hope he tries.

Right after it ended I wasn't sure how I felt. It was definitely satisfying, but I wasn't sure I loved it.
But the more I thought about it and what his interactions with each character meant the more I loved it. I don't think they could have ended it any better. Not to mention it's so rare for a show to go out at the top. It was truly a great series.
Oh and I loved the way he used his old business partners to give his family the money. That was a twist I didn't expect.

Breaking Bad Series Finale 9/29 [Spoilers, obviously]
For me, it was one of the best series finales I have ever seen. Vince Gilligan created a finale that was for the fans. There are no lingering questions or a chance for some crap movie in the future...it was wrapped up perfectly. It showcased, once again, how much of a mastermind Walter White could be when he thinks things through. He got back at those who he needed to and it was just poetic, intense, and gut wrenchingly amazing.
Him saying goodbye to Holly and watching Flynn was heartbreaking. You knew it was the last time he would ever see them. The way he tricked the Schwartzs was brilliant! My heart was pounding during that scene.
On Talking Bad, Vince Gilligan compared Walt's final scene around the meth lab to how Gollum was on Lord of the Rings; as if the lab was his "precious". The look of serenity on his face when he fell down and died was a great way to end his saga. The meth lab became his serenity and he died that way. The ending couldn't have been any better!

I disagree. I think one of the reasons he went there was to rescue Jesse.
Loved this show. I was so depressed yesterday that it is over.

I really liked it. I'm so sad it's over. I can't get over what an amazing actor Bryan Cranston is. Did anyone catch Aaron Paul on SNL? I thought he was great in the opening skit

Breaking Bad Series Finale 9/29 [Spoilers, obviously]
There is no doubt in my mind that Walt was going to kill Jesse with the rest of them. He had no idea that Jesse was being held captive before he walked in there. He assumed Jesse had partnered with uncle jack. That angered him immensely that his blue sky was still out there. It was only after he saw Jesse in shackles did he decide to save him.

I agree. He wanted Jesse to be in the room with them so he would die too, but when he saw him you could see the heartbreak and pity in his eyes for what had happened to Jesse (at least that's how I perceived it) and he made a last minute decision.
One of the few things I loved about Walt was how he did really love Jesse in his own twisted ways, and I love that he died saving him.

I need to detox from BB
We watched all5 seasons in a month and I feel emotionally exhausted
Good, low keyed ending. Despite how terrible Walt was, it was still sad.

Throughout the whole series, that was the biggest thing for me. That even in their darkest hours, they still had this crazy loyalty for each other. Jesse more than Walt, but Walt did the right thing in the end.
I think Walt's relationship with Jesse was stronger than with his own son, which is also sad.

I keep thinking about the scene in the desert where he told them where Jesse was under the car. If he was so loyal to him, why would he out him like that, knowing what the end result would be? It was Todd's idea to spare him in the desert, not Walt. And when Walt didn't get his way, what does he do? Tells him he let Jane die to hurt him as much as he can before Jesse meets his end.
Then he took the watch that Jesse gave him off and left it at that gas station. Showed no signs of thinking or talking about Jesse until Badger and Skinny P tell him that blue ice is still out there.
I wanted to believe he'd go on a rescue mission as much as anyone else but I don't think that's what it was until he saw him. Either way, he did save him in the end, no doubt about that, and I'm glad he did.

Re: Breaking Bad Series Finale 9/29 [Spoilers, obviously]
Anyone know why he took his watch off?? I never thought about that scene.. Dh just said to show continuity in the filming.. They shot that fist scene in the diner way back and he didn't have a watch on.. Pretty interesting I thought and just again the brilliance of this whole series .. How they never missed a beat..
Eta.. I t a he was killing Jesse until he saw him.

Re: Breaking Bad Series Finale 9/29 [Spoilers, obviously]
Finally saw this so now I can comment. I was satisfied with the ending, especially that gun scene, wow.... also I totally called him using the ricin to kill Lydia. I think Walt knew that Jesse was cooking for them against his will, there is no way Todd and his uncle would have kept him alive unless there was an alterior motive. I have to say that this show has great writing, the way they intertwine everything and it all makes sense in the end. I do have a question though, are the police looking for Jesse as well, or is he in the clear?
I'm going to miss this show! Hopefully "Better Call Saul" will be good as well.

Breaking Bad Series Finale 9/29 [Spoilers, obviously]
I loved that it ended and we weren't left hanging!
Im sad its over and really sad Walt died.... Its crazy how in the beginning (for me atleast)- you loved Walt- almost felt bad for him.... Then as he transformed into a monster; you hated him and this last episode you fell in love all over again....
LOVED him saving Jesse- loved watching him say good-bye to his daughter/watching his son....After seeing that- I didn't want him to die!!!

But how could Walt know that Jesse needed to be "saved"? When Walt asks badger and skinny Pete about the blue that's been on the streets, they confirm his suspicions about it being Jesse since it's so pure. He says jesses name with complete disdain and in that moment he thinks Jesse is voluntarily behind it. There was no way for him to know before that about Jesse being held captive. When he sees Jesse in shacklss, that when he realizes he was wrong.
Like another poster said, in the dessert he was ready to watch the nazis blow Jesse away. But it was Todd who stopped it, not Walt. Only at the very end of the finale did he decide to save Jesse, not before.

Re: Breaking Bad Series Finale 9/29 [Spoilers, obviously]
I think he asked about Jesse because he was trying to stall to get the keys/machine gun remote but also yes, he wanted Jesse to die to for partnering with the Aryan Brotherhood.
Per Vince Gilligan, he took the watch off at the gas station because they screwed up & filmed the NH seen with Walt buying the gun without him wearing a watch. So they decided to add in him taking off the watch as a symbol for leaving behind his loyalty & love for Jesse because Jesse was no longer loyal to Walt.
I also think he gave up Jesse hiding under the car because he blamed Jesse for Hank's death & wanted him dead. As Heisenberg as he is, he couldn't kill Jesse himself. He also wanted to hurt him as much as possible which is why he also told him about Jane.
Walt was such a narcissist. He never believes that anything was his own fault. Blamed everyone else for anything that went wrong throughout the show. He felt so superior with his skewed morality that he would impose upon others as he did 1000x worse.
Such a great character arc. Truly amazing show!

Okay, here is my take on it. For the loyalty factor and telling the hicks that Jesse was under the car, Walt wasn't loyal to him then, because Jesse was a rat. Jesse turned on Walt and in return Walt turned on Jesse, but Walt gave Jesse to Todd under the conditions he would be killed, not turned into a meth slave. Who knows, maybe at the time Walt was so hurt that he would have okayed him being made a slave, but that certainly was not his intention. So he believed that Jesse was killed, why would he mention him? As for Badger and Skinny P, this scene is one that makes me realize that Walt would know he was being held captive. He knows Jesse, all too well. 1) if Jesse decided to go into business with those busted up hicks, there is no way he would stay with them willingly. He would go home, he would probably sit in his house and sulk like he did in the past, but Badger and Skinny P would have seen him, they would not be thinking he was in Alaska. That just isn't Jesse. 2) Walt knows the Todd's uncle would never partner with Jesse. Why would he? There would be absolutely no reason to. Money? Well the uncle had more money then he knew what to do with, but as a greedy man there is no way he would go into business with a rat, and really no way he would split the profits. The uncle didn't respect Jesse. 3) if Walt believed that Jesse was alive, and was a partner with the uncle and the hicks making meth, and wanted him dead, wouldn't he verify where Jesse was? Walt was so meticulous with everything else, that is Walt's style, he assumes nothing, wouldn't he make sure Jesse was there. So if he made sure Jesse was up there, he would know he was captive. I don't think he actually checked it out to be clear, I am just saying if he went up there to kill Jesse he would make sure he was there. Some sort of verification, KWIM? 4) He was also on a suicide mission when he went up to the compound, he knew he wasn't leaving that compound alive, so if he wanted Jesse dead wouldn't he find out where he was? He wouldn't leave an open end. 5) The end of the show is Walt's redemption for all he did wrong, in Walts eyes Jesse was punished for turning rat, and Walt also I think understood how he wrong Jesse in the past, but in a sense Jesse "saved him", and now it was Walts turn to save Jesse. In the end, he uses the Jesse card to buy him time to get the keys, he couldn't have known the keys were going to be taken away from him, so he used Jesse as his hail mary card. I don't think he wanted Jesse in the room at all. I think he wanted to take them down and find Jesse.
Basically I think Walt is way to smart to think that Jesse was a willing partner with the hicks, todd and the uncle.

But Walt was a different man in the desert, he was still money hungry. Walt back then wouldn't have killed the uncle until he knew where the money was being kept. I think at that time he wanted Jesse to die.
I explained my reasoning on why Walt wouldn't think Jesse partnered with the hicks above. :)

Your interpretation is just way too far fetched for me. I disagree about it and think you're reaching. Obviously that is how you saw things and everyone interprets differently. In the end we shall have to agree to disagree on Walt's motivations and intentions with Jesse.
