no first hand experience, but my MIL had the surgery you're having almost 15 years ago. She's 84 now & has better cleavage than all of friends  which was important to her & she still plays tennis 3x a week!
my dear friend was diagnosed in her early twenties, it was awful, then again in her thirties again awful, then just after her 41st birthday she was diagnosed again & this time it had traveled to her liver. She finally had the mastectomy about 2 years ago and the liver cancer was under control. Her reconstruction looks great but the liver cancer is back and she has nothing but regrets about waiting on the mastectomy. She wishes she had done it the first time around.
So I applaud you for making your plan!
