I don't find it necessary for a child to "perform" this function even in play. I find it creepy. Children do not have to do everything an adult does.
while I would not buy this doll for my dd, my BF's daughter used to pretend to breast feed her dolls when she saw her mom BF'ing her baby sister....this I have no problem with and I would not ask or tell my dd to stop if she did this
I agree... I know that "role playing" is a huge part of imaginary play for children. I think that is normal. But the doll that suckles and burps and the fake breast thing I think takes it a little to far.
I agree with you Maria. There is a big difference between pretending and using an apparatus. I think the concept of fake boobs is a little too sophisticated for a little girl to understand. I'd rather see a girl hold a doll to her own body than to fake boobs. Of course, not in public unless it was over her shirt.

I would allow my DD (the DD I don't have!) to get this doll only if the bra/fake boobies comes with the spray milk option. If you want to make it real, do it like the real thing. Shoot milk in the eye of your doll!!!!

oh, I agree completely....I just thought the way goldi worded it, that she was saying even "pretend BF'ing is creepy"...it was not specified that the aparatus or the noises were the issue
I think we are all in agreement

Yeah it may not be my thing, but if Abby was enlightened enough by watching someone b/f and wanted to do it, so be it. I can think of worse things. I just would never buy her a special doll to do it with.
Oh and I wonder where in TRU this will be sold. Boys or girls section? Anyone remember "William Wants a Doll" from Free to be You and Me in the 70s?

I didn't watch the video, but its totally normal for kids to "breastfeed" their dolls. I saw my fiend's daughter do it tons of time. I don't see the need for a special doll (which apparantly comes with a fake breast) to get the affect.

Everytime we go to teh bookstore, I ALWAYS take that book out and read it to Jordana. She's never interested though- *sigh* one day we'll sing along to Marlo Thomas together.
