Breastfeeding Mommies that went back to work F/T I have a question

I was wondering how was the transition. How did you do it? Was it hard getting them used to a bottle? Did your child have nipple confusion? What bottles worked for you? Did you pump at work?

Sorry for so many questions. I'm not due until June but when I go back to work in Late Sept. If all goes well I will be breastfeeding but once I start at work the little princess will be with my parents and will be on a bottle I just want to make the transition as smooth as possible so any advice or tips would be great.

Thanks

I only went back pt, but dd was fine with the bottle transfer, we started bottles here and there way before returning back to work. The down fall for me was my milk supply declined alot b/c pumping was difficult at work. They didnt have a place for me to go and only could pump once in the 8 hours.. which made it painful.. which I think was the reason for my decline.

My biggest recommendation is to introduce bottles early. With DD#1 we gave her 1 bottle of BM every day from the time she was 3 weeks old. With #2 we were SO lax and only gave her bottles once in awhile. About a month before I was going back, we tried giving her bottles and she was NOT having it. It took a LONG time for DH to finally get her to take bottles while I was at work.

I think nipple confusion is over exaggerated. I EBF and pump and my kids never had an issue. Neither did my neice. You may want to try BF'ing for most feedings, nthen adding onbe bottle feeding of pumped milk, the next day 2 bottle feedings etc. Get the baby used to it gradually.

Great thanks for the information. What bottles are you using?

I use a few different one-they also had no issues with that. I have Dr. Browns and Born Free. I also have Adiri but they are level 2 which I will probably try soon since they just turned 12 weeks todayChat Icon

I agree, mine have been supplemented w/ formula since day 1. Now theyonly get one bottle of formula a day, but they have never had any issues. Oh, and they have been using pacifiers too.
I haven't gone back to work yet but i am concerned because when I pump I don't get very much...
ETA: we use Dr. Brown's bottles, but they are prettty flexible, they will accept anything I put in their mouths, lol. We were using the medela bottles at first but were having issues with gas.
