Bridesmaid Question? WWYD?
I am in a Wedding this Nov, about 3 weeks before my Due Date. In the next month I have to order the bridesmaid dress.
I was planning on telling her I would not feel comfortable wearing the Bridesmaid dress. I still want to be a bridesmaid but would prefer picking out a Maternity dress in the same color.
The dress she picked out is strapless and kind clings to you. I am already popping out of my DD Bra's and expect them to prob continue to grow. I just wouldn't feel comfortable in a strapless and then with a dress that drapes on my belly. Plus at that time I will be switched to Heparin injections which will then be 2x a day, so I prefer a maternity dress which will be loose on the belly.
Would this be wrong of me to ask??

Re: Bridesmaid Question? WWYD?
I would definitely talk to her about a maternity bridesmaid dress- a lot of designers even have maternity bm dresses- so if you get something the same color, it will look nicer and you will be so much more comfortable

I agree -- it certainly wouldn't hurt to talk to her about it! I'm sure she'll be concerned about your well-being and comfort and will agree.

I am MOH in my sister's wedding in Oct - I will be 27 weeks. I ordered the same dress as the rest of the wedding party...but the place is ordering me 2-3 extra yards of material and making it into a maternity dress. Maybe that can be an option for you?

Re: Bridesmaid Question? WWYD?
I would definitely ask. I'm in a wedding this summer. I found out that the dress the bride picked came in maternity, which is almost identical to the original dress, just with an empire waist. It turns out that I won't be that far along for the wedding that I'll need the maternity gown, but it if I was going to be further along, I would definitely ask if I could order that one.

I agree with everyone. Talk to her. You need to be comfortable. I think the maternity dress would be the best thing. I also give you credit for being in a wedding 3 weeks before your DD!

It can't hurt to ask.
Also, you may want to keep in mind that 3 weeks before your due date is really close and you may be really tired and bloated by then. Try to volunteer for duties that won't have you on your feet and running around too much.
Good luck!

Thanks! I figured I would prob not be able to stand through out the ceremony. As long as I can walk down the aisle and still participate. I will just make sure at that time I am not standing to long.

Re: Bridesmaid Question? WWYD?
I'm a bridesmaid 2 weeks before my due date! I ordered maternity... but that dress was identical to the others.. all were empire waist. I'm sure though if they order you extra fabric... they could get the dress the bride chose to fit you more comfortably. I was planning to wear whatever the bride wanted me to wear. I'm sure it will be a very tiring and HOT day.

Re: Bridesmaid Question? WWYD?
I def don't think it would be wrong of you to ask! Depending on the bride, she may or may not have a problem with it.. though I think if she is reasonable and understanding she won't mind! Being in a person's bridal party is more than just wearing a dress, after all!
I would def say something too, if it were me!

Wow you girls are brave, I backed out being a BM 2 weeks before my DD...I just didn't want to take that chance.

Re: Bridesmaid Question? WWYD?
I think overall you are better off getting a maternity dress, because I cannot imagine you fitting correctly into a regular dress. Plus, the alterations will probably cost a lot if you add fabric. Instead of butchering a regular dress, I would go with maternity. I would just talk to her about it.
Good luck!

Re: Bridesmaid Question? WWYD?
My SIL delivered the week after my wedding.
She went through the same decision as you... there was no way the dress that the other bridesmaids wore would suit her... even with heavy alterations.
She looked great in a maternity dress in the same color.
