Brookhaven residents, you get free compost and mulch!
I'm jealous. I only get free mulch.
I'm totally making my sister go there and get compost for me. It's at the Holbrook Ecology Center.
I called the Town of Smithtown dump - they only offer mulch. No compost.

I haven't been there in about 3 years or so, but there is a place you can dump grass clippings, trees, brush, etc., and pick up the composted stuff in the same facility. It's just south of the Ronkonkoma Train Station. I've gotten a few pickup trucks worth of mulch, and dropped off several trucks worth of trees/branches/brush. All free.
ETA: Here's the map of where it is. It's the large block of land in the center of the map, just north of the airstrips.
