BTDT Mommies - need mommy chop advice!

Right now my hair is just above shoulder length. It's very curly and layered. I can pull it back, which is easy, but doesn't look great, and I have pieces that fall out if I don't use a million bobby pins. I usually like the way it looks when I wear it curly but it gets in my face a lot.

So, do I let it grow out, or cut it short? Short would be easier than it is now, but then I'd never be able to pull it back on lazy days.

Help!

You and I have very similar hair. I'm happy with the length mine is now (except I'm in desperate need of a color and cut), but if I were you and unhappy with it, I think I'd opt to grow it a bit if anything. I think if I were to go short, I'd be compelled to blow it out--which I NEVER do--and that would be a lot of work. Also, options for putting it up would be even more limited than they are now.

Then again, you could cut it. If you hate it...it always grows back! Hmmmm...

I'm not a fan of cutting curly hair super short. I think it makes it harder to control and a bit unruly. Also it may make you want to blow it out more often to control it. I think I'd grow it out a bit.

LB, don't cut it short. Curls need weight to hold them down. I like your hair the length it is and it would look pretty longer.

ETA-the shorter it is, the more maintenance and more work to style.

Can you just use some cute headbands & clips until you have more time to do it or it grows longer

ITA, this is why I try to keep mine long even when I feel like I wanna just chop it all off. The last time I chopped it, I swore I would never do it again Chat Icon

Thanks everyone! I actually have very fine hair, so although it's curly, too much weight makes me lose all the curl. I've had it short before... but never really long. I guess I am just impatient. Chat Icon

I can but I always think I look so young with clips in my hair... I can't find a style/accessory that looks cute but not like I am 12 Chat Icon
