BTDT Moms - 3 Year Old and Crying!! HELP
I have NO idea what to do anymore. My 3yo is (I hate to say this)....DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She crys about EVERYTHING and anything. I am completely at wits end. I feel like the worst mom, I went completely nuts on her last night...screaming so bad. I can't take it anymore. She crys at everything and for no reason. I've done the time outs I've done, the no tv, no ice cream.
I know consistency and follow through with threats is key, but she's still doing it.
I feel HORRIBLE that I yelled at her last night but I'M IN TEARS OVER IT.
For the BTDT moms - any advice, tools / tricks to use to make this stop!?!!? I'm desperate....TIA

Re: BTDT Moms - 3 Year Old and Crying!! HELP
Honestly, I'm right there with you. My three year old is a major drama queen these days and will cry (or attempt to ) over everything. And she frequently drives me absolutely insane and I have no shame saying it! I have found that acting as if she's not crying is the best option. I've become fairly immune to the sound of her whining and crying and I don't mention it at all. I figure that the more I mention is, the more she'll do it for attention. Also, I was a big crier my whole life and it wasn't something I could control. Whenever my emotions are strong, in whatever way, I cry, so I can't help but think that some people just have no control over it and it's their response to strong feelings. Does that make sense? I know how hard it is to ignore, but seriously, just ignore it. As long as you know the tears aren't because she's in pain or truly sad, then it's just a part of her being three and just a reaction to her emotions. I frequently take time outs for MYSELF on the days that I'm having a hard time handling her crying. Try that, it can work wonders for YOU!

Thank you. I guess I never tried ignoring her......she hangs herself on me saying she wants a hug....I guess I'll try this.
Thanks!

This is what I do. I do it with the whining too. Doesn't always work but it helps.
