BTDT moms - climbing out of the crib (UPDATED)

So my wonderful sleeper has done a total 180. It began when we were at my sister's house visiting. The first night, she climbed out of the pack and play 2 times (she has never done this before). Then the other nights, I would have to sit in there with her and pretend I was sleeping until she fell asleep (up to an hour) or wait right outside the room to make sure that she did not climb out of the pnp again.

Now, tonight is the first night home, we figured she would be back to her old self...NOPE....she was flipping out screaming "mommy, daddy, I need you" Chat Icon and then threw herself out of the crib

I guess it is time to transition her to a bed, huh?

any other advice Chat Icon

UPDATE - So she climbed out of her crib 2 more times. I went in there and picked her up cause she was hysterical. She proceeded to puke all over me Chat Icon which made her even more upset. while I cleaned her up, DH took off the drop side and replaced it with the crib rail. I stayed in her room with her for about 2 hours until she feel asleep

if I was not pregnant, I would be going out for a drink right now Chat Icon Chat Icon

I have heard that the crib tent can buy you some time before the switch?

That was my suggestion too, although I have no first-hand experience (yet Chat Icon Chat Icon )

Hope she gets back in her routine ASAP! Chat Icon

I agree that it might be time for a bed, but I'd give it a week or so and see if she goes back to her routine for a bit, you know?Chat Icon

Re: BTDT moms - climbing out of the crib

DD climbed out of her crib 1x.....I made a big deal telling her that she could get very hurt and not to do it again - - - and she didnt.Chat Icon maybe you can try explaining that?

If not....a crib tent is another option if your not ready to transition to a bed.

Id also give her a few days...maybe she needs a few days to get back into her routine now that shes home??

Re: BTDT moms - climbing out of the crib (UPDATED)

How old is she??

I'm a big advocate of the crib tent. Otherwise, you need to switch to a bed. You cannot go through that every night, especially while pregnant.

Just a warning- my DD took a long time to get used to the bed & she's 2 1/2. She has completely stopped napping (except at school, where she'll nap every single freaking day) in her bed. She love the freedom, much to my dismay! We have a gate up at her door. I'm in my 9th month and can't keep picking her up and carrying her back into her room.

Good luck!
