BTDT Moms- BreastFeeding Class?
Just wondering for moms that are breastfeeding and took a class prior to giving birth, where did you take the class and would you recommend specifically the class you took?

I took a BF class at Destination Maternity, it was ok, but I think the best way to learn is in the hospital when you have the baby so you have hands on guidance. I delivered at NSUH and they had Lactation Consultant which I used every day I was there!

I wish I did before I had DS. We had a LOT of difficulties and I did not find the hospital LC very helpful. If you feel strongly about bf'ing, I would go to a class as well as a few La Leche meetings. There are plenty all over the island. Really wish I thought of it. I figured it would be easy since it's what's *natural* and what the "girls" are there for. I will probably take a class or go to a meeting or two just as a "refresher" before this LO comes. G/L!
Also check out Breastfeeding made Simple (book and website)-helped us a lot!

I never took the BFing class offered at the hospital. I studied videos, read a lot online and got some books. The Nursing Mother's Companion is a good one, also The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. I also asked for help from the LC at the hospital as well as the nurses.

I took the class at I think the name of it is new baby belly. It's in massapequa and I loved it and so did dh. I felt prepared on the different challenges we could face and dh learned how to help and support me. Hth!

I'm not a BTDT, but I just signed up for the BF class that Good Sam offers because I'd heard good things. Its 2 classes for 2.5 hours each day. I hope it helps! I'm starting to quickly realize that BFing isn't as easy as I assumed!!

I took a class through my hospital. It was helpful although I don't think anything quite prepares you for BFing.

I took a class at Good Sam & it was very good. I went into labor the day before I was supposed to go to the class mentioned above, though, so I took a crash course at the hospital that they gave new moms in the maternity ward. The LC that offered it was VERY good/helpful!

I took it at st Charles hospital. I found it to be helpful. The LC who teaches the class is really sweet and she is the same LC who helps you after the baby is born.
