BTDT moms of toddlers - what do you do with DC when you are sick?

I woke up sick this morning. I feel I have been hit by a train.

What am I going to do with DS all day?

Sad to say, but he watches a lot more TV than he normally does. I just can't be as active with him when really sick.

I think you have said before that you don't have family nearby who can help out, but if you do have anyone, I would call and ask them to watch DS for a couple hours so you can rest. If I'm not in such bad shape that driving is an issue, I'll take him to the library or a park with a fence around it (so I don't have to chase him all over), but I realize driving isn't always a good idea when you are really sick.

Does he use crayons or blocks? Play with toys on his own? I would start playing with him then let him play by himself for a bit while you lay on the couch. Or read lots of books.

Honestly, we pretty much watch TV and he plays with his toys all day long. We did this for most of my first trimester when I was so sick. I don't have anyone to help out so it was all on me, but if you have someone who can take him for a few hours that would def. help! Hope you feel better real soon!

Can someone come over for a few hours so you can rest? Otherwise the TV is your friend today.

Toddlers can understand mommy doesn't feel well..mommy needs rest..at least mine do..So when i'm sick i lay around as much as possible and they get to watch WHATEVER they want on tv.

I keep purell on me at all time for them and me to minimize them getting sick.
I only call for backup when i have stomach virus or really high fever which is rare fo me.

Thanks ladies! I feel tv is going to be my friend today.

I think it's bad allergies. I am in bed with my laptop and DS is on my bed too watching TV.

For us - we did movies, and other activities where I could lay on the couch and she could play at my feet, reading books, music and told her to dance...LOL. Basically she played right in front of me and I try to keep her in just the play room so I'm chasing her around the house.

I also let him eat pretty much whatever he wanted. He's picky and I usually try to get him to eat healthy foods, but I just wasn't up to it the last time I was sick.

So when he came into the living room shaking a box of cookies at me, I was like, sure have some cookies! Not the best for him, but he was happy and so was I. Most things (except safety issues) go out the window when I'm sick.
