Re: BTDT question re: birth weights est vs actual
Before I was sent to the hospital, they estimated him at 8lbs 3oz. At birth, he was 7lb 15oz.

A couple of days before I was induced I had a sono and they estimated DD to be about 8lbs. She was born 7lbs 9oz.

Re: BTDT question re: birth weights est vs actual
Well, my first was WAY off!
At 38+ weeks, DS was estimated to be 8 lbs 12 oz. He was born almost a week later (39 weeks 4 days) at 7 lbs 10 oz. He just had a huge head
At 36 weeks, DD was estimated to be 6 lbs 8 oz. She was born over FIVE weeks later at 7 lbs 12 oz - meaning that she gained just over 2 lbs in 5 weeks. That was a bit more accurate, but not much.

Re: BTDT question re: birth weights est vs actual
I dont know what my 36 week was with DS. But I did one at 38 weeks and they estimated 9lbs 1oz. Then I had one at 39w4days and it was 9lbs 4oz.
DS was born at 40 weeks exactly and was 9lbs 14oz...so I think they were pretty accurate IMO.

Re: BTDT question re: birth weights est vs actual
The night I was induced they estimated dd to be about 8 lbs-but it can be 1 lbs +/-. She was 6 lbs 12.5 oz.
They were a little over 1 lb off

Re: BTDT question re: birth weights est vs actual
my doc told me that it is just an estimate and it could be off in either direction by one pound or 10%. He estimated that DS was around 8 pounds and he was born at 8 lbs 2 oz.

Re: BTDT question re: birth weights est vs actual
DD was born at 8 lbs 9oz, they guessed around 6 pounds, so quite a bit off.
With DS, I don't remember getting an estimate.

Re: BTDT question re: birth weights est vs actual
My Dr estimated DD to be 10+ lbs if I went to 40 weeks with her. She was born a 38 weeks and was 8lbs 11oz so I guess it could have been right or pretty close.

Re: BTDT question re: birth weights est vs actual
The day before DD was born they estimated 8lbs 2oz. She was born 7lb 2 oz. And I was going for growth sonos every week at the end so they were consistently a pound off

Re: BTDT question re: birth weights est vs actual
The day before my c section DS was estimated at 8.5-9lbs.
He was born the following day at 10lbs 6 oz.
I don't rely too heavily on the estimates anymore.

Re: BTDT question re: birth weights est vs actual
Not close at all. I had a sono the day I went into labor. They estimated ds was over 8lbs. He was born less than 24 hours later weighing exactly 6lbs 15oz.

Re: BTDT question re: birth weights est vs actual
WAY OFF...12 hours before i gave birth (i was in labor already), they gave me a sono to check my fluids and i was told the baby would be around 5 lbs...
12 hours later she came out 7lbs4oz.
i dont really go by sonograms anyway, they can be way off. as long as weight gain is normal, i dont pay mind to the estimates.
my SIL was told her baby would be betwwen 9-10lbs and she may need a c-section, he came out 7lbs7oz
