BTDT/Second Timers etc.
How long did it take your body (physically) to recover? I had to tell my dh that I will not look like Katherine Heigel in Knocked Up upon leaving the hospital and he didn't understand why I needed something loose to come home in (why can't you just wear something old). After an explanation, he understands but it's just so funny how men believe everything they see on tv and movies.
I don't expect to be a size 4 when I leave I'm just wondering what recovery time is (also understanding that everybody is different).
Thanks!!!

Sorry but that is so funny. No one looks like that, not even a week after giving birth!
I looked about 5 months pregnant the next day, and it went down gradually over the next few weeks. I was ot of maternity pants within 2 weeks I think, but I definitely needed to go 2 sizes up in pants for a while.
I never lost my belly but that's because I held onto 15 lbs before I got pregnant again 9 months later.
I would say that most women are at their PP weight, or close to it, 6-9 months after the baby comes, but obviously everyone is different.

well I brought my pre preggo tank top to the hospital. when the day came to leave, I thought WTh I can't even wear this, why do I still have this belly! It took a while for my stomach to go down, and took months and months 6-8 maybe? for my hips to go back to normal.

I am almost 5 weeks PP and I still definitely have a belly.
I had a c-section so it might be different, but while I was in the hospital, I was still looking like I was 7-8 months pregnant! It was completely shocking to me.
I gained 46 lbs throughout my pregnancy. At 1 week PP I was down 21 lbs. At 2 weeks I was down 27 lbs. And at 3 weeks I was down 29 lbs. That's with (obviously) no exercise...
BUT - my stomach still looks like I'm pregnant. I'm at the same weight as when I was 4-5 months pregnant... and I still definitely have bulge in my belly area!

It takes a couple of weeks for the belly to suck back in. Depending on how much fat weight you gain, that's another story. Your weight gain is baby, placenta, more blood in your system, maybe some excess water retention, some body fat, and bigger boobs. You can loose most of it pretty quickly. It all depends on how you take care of yourself during the pregnancy.
