BTDT's - low levels of amniotic fluid - please share experiences
I am 34 wks tomorrow - went for an OB visit, and was told my fluid is in the low range of normal. It was 8.9. So now I have to go for weekly visits to monitor the fluid.
I've been having some very mild period like cramps, very sporadic, and I think I might slowly be shedding my mucus plug. I am beginning to wonder if all of these things are a sign I might go into labor early. My midwife said not to be too concerned, but I can't help but worry. And of course, I Googled info on this and now I'm worried.
If you had low-ish levels of fluid in the 3rd tri, did you go into labor early? Did the problem correct itself? Was the baby affected in any way? Please share your stories! TIA

Re: BTDT's - low levels of amniotic fluid - please share experiences
mine was at 8. My Dr. said it's not that low and was not concerned. the next week it was at 11- I went into labor that day-so i don't really think the low fluid was related. I drank lots of water and tried to get more rest.
eta:I went into labor at 37 weeks

I saw my ob right around my due date, and hadn't felt the baby as much, so they sent me for a sono, and i had no fluid left. i was rushed to the hospital and induced immediately.

I had low fluid and was put on bedrest. I did nothing (off my feet entirely) and drank a ton of water. I was totally fine, but DS came 2 weeks early

Re: BTDT's - low levels of amniotic fluid - please share experiences
My dr was not monitoring mine....long story.
At 36 weeks, I had a high fever and chills...but I was NOT sick. Long story short...I had a very low amniotic fluid and had to deliver the baby via emergency csection at 36 weeks. I did not even have enough for them to do a amnio to check if DDs lungs were ok for delivery...so I had the csection to save her. Thankfully her lungs are fine.
If you are being monitored, everything will be ok I am sure! I was not monitored. Next time around I will be more closely watched. I WILL MAKE SURE of it.

Re: BTDT's - low levels of amniotic fluid - please share experiences
Mine was not low until the very end- within the last week and a half to two weeks. Just before 39 weeks, they wanted me to start coming every 2 days to get it checked, but then I delivered at 39 weeks exactly.
My friend had very low levels at around 32-34 weeks. She had frequent visits with the threat of a c-section hanging over her if the levels got too low. (C-section was because baby was breech- it wasn't related to the fluid.) She drank tons and tons of water and kept her fluid at acceptable levels until about 38 weeks. That morning she went for her check up, and the doc said the levels were too low, and she needed to have a c-section that night to get the baby out. Her DD was completely and totally healthy.

I had low amniotic fluids at 36 weeks, and a week later went into labor with Teddy. Sounds like something is brewing hon. Try and stay off your feet and drink lots of fluids.

Thanks everyone. I've been drinking like a fish, but I guess I'll start drinking like a whale.
I just feel like the low fluid coupled with the other symptoms might mean is going to make an early appearance. Hopefully I can cook her a little longer.
