Burial/funeral question
My FIL just passed. We are out of state. The person at funeral home we need to speak to won’t be in until 3.
Do they still bury a person if the ground is frozen/covered in snow?
How long can they hold a body in NYS?
Anyone had any experience like this with a death in the dead of winter in NY? What is the protocol?
Thank you!

Burial/funeral question
I’m so sorry. My grandmother died in January and yes, she was buried with snow on the ground. Nothing was any different than if it had been July.

Yes both my grandparents were buried in January and February. Nothing changed bc of the weather. Sorry for your loss!

I'm sorry for your loss. Not a problem for the ground to be opened.

Burial/funeral question
My mom passed feb 10 2007. Her funeral was two days later as per Jewish law. Ground was frozen and snowy. Didn’t matter.

Re: Burial/funeral question
Very sorry for your loss. We had a family member buried in the winter with snow on the ground no problem.
