C-section mamas: When you are done having kids...
(and I mean like DONE, done) are you planning on getting your tubes tied? Or have you already?
It just seems so convenient, I mean while you're open and all... Also, at my age (which is mid to {{ahem}}late 30s) it seems to make sense. I also know about 4 or 5 women who have done this and they all say, "Thank you Jesus!" 
However, my DH and I had the conversation last week and we pretty much decided NOT to do it. We are definitely NOT planning on a 4th, but I guess you sort of don't know where life is going to take you... However, I'm wondering if I will regret it down the line.
Just wondering if we could maybe have a conversation on all your thoughts...

When I had my c-section for DD #2, I had my tubes tied.
I had always thought I wanted 3 kids, but after my experience with DD #1, 7 weeks early, I knew that we'd be done at 2.
And since I was already having a c-section, it was an easy decision for me to do it.

DH and I are about 95% sure we are done, so I ended up with the Mirena IUD instead... I actually don't think I'll ever get my tubes tied, even if I thought I was 1000% done, it's just so FINAL, I'd hate to ever worry if I was going to change my mind.
My guess is that neither DH or I will ever get "fixed" because there's always that "what if... "
ETA: I know you said c-section mamas, I replied because DD was almost a c-section

My DD is 3months old and I know we plan on having a second, who knows about a third... it does seem awfully convenient, but as you said, who knows where life will take you. I'd rather have the simple outpatient procedure later in life than know I'm *done* for sure.
I am 29 so I don't know if that makes a difference.

I don't think so. I just don't like that it is so final. Even though I'll know we are definitely done, I don't like to think that I am actually incapable, if this makes any sense. I keep going back and forth on it though.

Well, I didn't have a C, but my mom did, and I know she had her tubes tied after #3. But I think her doc advised against any further c-sections so she was pretty much encouraged to do it. But I know she was totally happy with 3 kids.

I wish I had. I really am done but the doctors etc felt I was too young to make that choice.... too hormonial.
I'm going to be 35 this year and AJ will be 2.. I haven't changed my mind.
I think I might try the mirena iud.

I didn't do it. I'm done having kids, but I'm only 31, so I cannot imagine making such a permanent decision at this age.

I did it and i don't regret it one bit....but....I was 42 when I had my second son and I knew I was done (and lucky to have delivered him!) However, if i was younger, I don't know if i could have made the same decision.

If I were rich and 10 yrs younger, I'd definitely have 5 more kids! LOL Before getting pregnant, DH and I decided that we're only having one child for a host of reasons including our age (37) and the cost of daycare $$$. I didn't plan on a c/s, but WISH that I had the mindset to ask for my tubes to be tied at the time. I'm in the one and done club for sure!

There is no need for me to get my tubes tied. I cannot conceive without assistance and NO it is NOT possible for me to conceive a "miracle" baby without assistance because my issue is an anatomical one - cervical stenosis.
Frankly, Going through what I went through to conceive and deliver both of my children (surgery, three miscarriages and c-sections), I'll be damned if I am going to have any other medical procedure than a tummy tuck. If DH doesn't want any more kids, he either has to stay away from me or get snipped. END OF STORY.

I had two c/s and I am done. I did not get mine tied. It just feels so final. I am only 32. I think if I was older I might have had them tied.

Well, I'm not done yet, only have DD who is 3 months, but DH and I have discussed and he volunteered to have a vasectomy. His dad had it and they feel it's less intrusive and easier to reverse "just in case"

I have been thinking about this alot now that I am considering TTC for #2.
I havent spoken to DH yet but I am leaning towards getting them tied when I have #2.
I know I only want 2 kids (honestly I am pretty content with just 1) and I hate having to deal with any contraception.
I dont mine the finality of it because if I truly decide I want #3...I will adopt, I have an adopted niece and I think its a wonderful thing!

I had my tubes tied during my csection. I figured I got 3 in 1 shot and to dam old to worry about getting pregnant again....

I will not being doing this when we feel we are done having children. I dont know, it seems very final to me. I would be sad doing it. But that being said, I totally understand why someone would choose it during the c section surgery.

I just had my first via c/s and know we want to have one more.
But my cousin had 3 kids in 3 years, all c/s and she had it done with her third delivery. The doctors really didn't recommend her having any more because she had three c/s back to back and she even had a complication after her 3rd c/s so she was happy to have had it done.

Unfortunately you still get your AF....a hysterectomy would stop AF every month.
