C-Section Recovery and Older Sibling
Hey All. Just curious how the c-section thing and the big brother/sister thing works. If I end up having a c-section when will I see my son and when can he see the baby?
How did you introduce them? Were you there when they met for the first time?
Did they allow them in recovery?
Did you wait until they put you in a room?
Did you get a private family moment to introduce them?
I think it will have to be my Husband comes out announces the baby is here and then when they wheel the baby up to get a bath my son can see him/her? (That is the first opportunity but I wont be there  and we are team green.
So confused. I really wanted to be there to see them meet. How did you do it?
Need ideas From BTDT Moms

older DD was 21 months at the time. We decided to wait until the next day for her to come, the idea being, I'd be settled in a room, I'd look ok and not be numb anymore and have the cath out (my first csection recovery wasn't that smooth right after and I didn't want her to be scared if I wasn't feeling well), I'd have some time with DD#2 and she was all cleaned up and ready to meet her sister.
So I had DD#2 on a Monday morning and DD#1 came Tuesday morning, I was in my room and holding baby and she came in and sat with me on the bed and held baby with me.

I've had three c-sections. For the 2nd and 3rd, the older sisters were not there when I gave birth. She (and they, the 3rd time) was with the ILs and came with them basically to see the baby behind the glass. They did not come to recovery. For #2, she came the next day to the room with the ILs. With #3, they also saw the baby behind the glass and because I was in a room by 5p, I think they came up that day.
Would you believe I don't have a clear memory either time of the older ones meeting their sibling for the first time? 
In order to make it special the last time, when DH called his parents to tell them the baby had arrived, he didn't tell them the sex...he had them put on DD#1 and let her announce it and then told DD#2 the name and let her announce that!

I am not of fan of children in the c-section recovery room. There are monitors, wires, caths, and some people have a rough time and I think that's a scary sight for a child. I'm actually not sure if they are even allowed (Good Sam).
We waited until the next day for DH to bring DD up to meet her little brother. Best pic ever is her on her tippy-toes looking into his bassinet

I had a section at Good Sam and I don't have any other kids but they wouldn't let anyone except DH in recovery to see me.

I don't think anyone besdies dh is allowed in the recoery room with you at least that is how it was at St. Charles. Im having a scheduled c-sec and as soon as I'm back in my room I plan to see dd. At the first visiting hours my dd will come to see me and baby. I want to see her as much as I can. My older dd will be 21 months when dd2 is born.

I agree. I think seeing their mommy all hooked up and stuck in bed and not able to move too much, and for them to no be able to hop in bed with mommy, would be really scary. I wanted to be IV, cathater free first. So DS was born at 8:41pm Tuesday, ds1 came to visit around noon on Wednesday. It was a perfect family moment! Dh brought him into the room and the baby was in the crib and DS went right over to his brother and it was love at first sight!!
