Re: Calling curvy girls - boobs, bootays, bellies!
I also tried on ym BMs dreses for my own wedding, but I knew I was the biggest out of the 3 of us, and my BMs were out of state.
I like thicker straps, and a higher wastline, personally. A dress with a higher waistline will flow over the hips, but & belly, but you have to be carefull, b/c if it is too high, the boobs don't fit.
It is very pretty though.
ETA- if it is more a-line than it looks, it might work. Who is it by?

thanks for the help, everyone - its DaVinci bridals.
I'm trying to keep the dress under $200 for everyone, but when they charge an extra $40-50 for plus sizes, its not easy. Its really not fair.
I've taken all of the girls to look - they have no opinion. That's what is making this so difficult!!!!

I hate the extra charges for plus size. I also had a friend who was a size 14... She was on a diet and did lose 30 pounds from the time she tried on the dress and the dress came in. They ordered her a size 18W for the top and a 20W FOR THE BOTTOM! They always try to screw ya.

Re: Calling curvy girls - boobs, bootays, bellies!
my poor sister is NOT a plus sized girl - but she is in BM dresses! I tried looking into lines that don't charge extra for larger sizes (Impressions) but couldn't find anything they liked.
They all like this dress based on the pic...I'm about ready to say, "HERE - take the name of 10 dress companies, find the ones you like, and order them!"

When you find styles you like, check for the price at Netbride.com They are much less expensive then the stores. THe dress I wore for my sister's wedding was $180 at Macy's and $130 at netbride.

i would have to try it on- at first glance- it looks too tight- too form fitting- i would like something with more of an a-line.

What about something like this?
They are both from Venus Bridal. My BMs gown were Venus & very inexpensive, but I got them from RK in Manhattan & they were an older style, but I don't think its a very expensive line to start with.

No problem, I love to look at dresses! I have the boob space problem too. Maybe something with a scoop neck? That's what my wedding dress was.

I saw a lot of nice dresses on that site though - they have a section called "modest dresses" - the dresses have short sleeves! I may just tell the girls that it has to be satin and Midnight blue, and let them choose their own dress.
That way my size 4 BM can go strapless (she wants strapless), my sister can have whatever she wants, and Rich's sister can get sleeves!

Beautiful dress....I think it would look nice on curvy girls. I would wear it and I consider my self "curvy"

It's very pretty but a woman with large chest would rather something she could wear a bra with -- straps and all. At least, I would...

Re: Calling curvy girls - boobs, bootays, bellies!
If I was round around the middle I would not be comfortable. And if I hate my arms that would be an issue.
My girls wore and A-line strapless dress one piece which was flattering to everyone because it didn't "grab" you anywhere. It came with a wrap so those self-concious about arms wore the wrap.

Nic,
I had the same problems as you. I ended up going with this dress from David's bridal. It looked nice on everyone, especially the larger ones because of the ruching (spelling?) on the side.
Not the best pic right now, but my sister to the left of me has a huge chest and the dress flattered her (all 3 are my sisters)

Re: Calling curvy girls - boobs, bootays, bellies!
Gorgeous dress, Hollie!
That's exacctly the silhouette I pick out for myself (I'm about the same shape as your sister). The straight across line on top holds in the girls, and the fitted waist and flared skirt is very flattering and comfortable
ETA: I like straight across on top, and I don't like anything that separates my boobs or has a "compartment" they have to fit in. Those never fit right and they make my boobs look even bigger than they are

Re: Calling curvy girls - boobs, bootays, bellies!
The dress you picked is gorgeous, but as a chunky girl, I don't think I'd feel comfortable in it.
I definitely had the same issues for my wedding. Honestly, the best styles on a larger girl IMO are empire waist or something that's very low waisted. Anything that cuts across the middle is going to make a big girl look huge. This is the dress that my girls wore and it was only $120, It's Morilee. HTH
The thing in her hair is actually the shawl that comes with the dress:
Here's my girls in it (we had a halter top added on, using the shawl so the material matched, for my MOH; she felt much more comfy in it that way):
I know it's b&w, but it really shows off the different tops.

Re: Calling curvy girls - boobs, bootays, bellies!
I'd try it....I'm not sure if I would look good in it. Considering it's monochromatic (which is thinning) and long in length (again, thinning) it might be a very nice dress no matter the shape or size.
Your busty friend will "pop" and your plus size friend might or might not feel comfortable in it, that's completely personal

I have girls ranging from a preggo, FSIL just had twins, a size 2, etc.
Make your life easier and do separates. we all picked the same a-line skirt, and they picked their own top.
That is EXACTLY what we did.
Was going to suggest this

Soooo - what WOULD you be comfortable in? Anyone have a pic?
I too would not be comfy in that dress - it doesn't look very aline on the bottom, and even though it's two pieces I feel it would cut me off at the wrong spots. Plus, I'm super "shorty" so anything long really shortens me.
The dresses my girls wore were sooooooo flattering - they ranged from sized 2 to 22!
