Can you girls tell me seriously
how you drop so much $$ on bags and shoes?
how do you afford to own Kooba, LV, Jimmy Choo, Ferraggamo
I love all this stuff, but I think I'd barf dropping that much money on one item.
I am just curious..maybe you know something I don't (or maybe you all make a ton more than I do..)

Re: Can you girls tell me seriously
I got a nice bonus at work, and that's when I treated myself to the LV Speedy bag.
DH bought me a Pegasus Burberry bag for Christmas. Those are the only 2 designer bags I own...and to be honest, I am not crazy about the Burberry or the print but DH loves it...LOL.
And I don't own designer sunglasses or shoes. My eyeglass are Gucci....I love them. But they were only $125. It cost more to get my coke bottle lenses into them!

Re: Can you girls tell me seriously
I personally do not buy it all the time. And I shop a lot at Century 21, Nordstrom's Rack & Off 5th so I get things at a huge discount. My last pair of Ferragamo shoes came from there & cost only $85. Also I personally do not buy anything "too trendy" that is expensive like that b/c if I only wear it once or twice it seems a waste to me.
I also shop at off times. I just got 2 D&B bags on their website for 50% the week after Christmas.
Sample sales are also good if you can get to them. Go to TopButton.com to sign up for local listings.
My Designer glasses & sunglasses are prescription, so I only pay a portion & the rest my insurance covers. Once I have the Lasik I will just put regular lenses back into them.

Re: Can you girls tell me seriously
I also only buy high-priced ticket items when I get my bonus at work. Every once in a while for my bday or Xmas, I'll get a big name brand bag.
I don't buy ridiculously expensive shoes though and I buy most of my clothing on sale. My Prada sunglasses are two years old and I got them for my bday.

Re: Can you girls tell me seriously
I ususally get 1 or 2 pairs of high end shoes a year- I get them when saks has a sale or nordstrom
bags- I get 1 or 2 a year- Jake buys them as gifts
I used to charged alot of stuff- and I am paying for it now- but living in the city, making peanuts and getting 40% at bloomies in NOT a good combo
I also sell all of my old stuff on ebay- but doing that has actually made me realize how much money I waste- I list the orginal price
I can honestly say in the last 6 months I haven't bought much- and I am trying to keep it up!

you'll do everything you can to take my crack away, won't you.
thinking about it, I have one little monogram Coach bag that was a gift, my eyeglasses are Prada (but I have no choice but to wear them, since i can't wear contacts) and my sunglasses are Chanel (gift from my sister who works there)
I am not even sure if Via Spiga is considered "high end" but my wedding shoes are from the outlet, and I paid $40 for them....
my girlfriend was sporting a really nice Chloe bag the other day...and I shuddered at the thought of what she paid...
the worst part is....I don't have any money either. it's not like I don't spend but have amassed this huge fortune...I've got squat!

Re: Can you girls tell me seriously
If it makes you feel better, I didnt recognize some of the names you posted and that is probably because I would never purchase any of them either!
I do have an LV that was a bonus gift to me from my job.
I work hard and dont even make enough to come close to purchasing a bag that would eat up one whole paycheck nor buy shoes that would do the same.
Its not how much you spend on the item is how you "wear" it, right?

Re: Can you girls tell me seriously
I don't do it regularly. I have three designer bags, one was a gift, one was from DH our first x-mas and one I just got 30% off at macy coach b/c it was discontinued and someone returned it. I've never really spent alot of money on shoes though. Everyone keeps saying how incredible UGGS are to wear and I think that $100-160 for boots is alot of money! I still don't have them b/c I'm not sure I can justify the expense! Bags on the other hand I use constantly!

Re: Can you girls tell me seriously
the most I have ever spent on a bag was $300 for a Coach - and I only did it b/c I had a few Macy's gift cards, so I didn't need to pay for the whole thing out of my own pocket.
I think that is the most I would spend.. unless I saw something that I just HAD to have. But I would absolutely not consider spending what LV's cost!! good thing I don't like them anyway

Re: Can you girls tell me seriously
anything designer I have (which is not alot) was all bought before meeting DH when I was single , living at home and had my whole paycheck to blow.
Now that I am married and saving, I really haven't treated myself.
I also would rather get one nice present on christmas or bday than a few things.

Re: Can you girls tell me seriously
Well...to be honest I don't have a lot of stuff.
I would rather have one really awesome bag that 5 ok bags or 15 in one case. I have one black bag (Chanel), one for the summer (Burberry), 2 brown for fall (Gucci and Fendi), and a LV for all year. These bags are classic and timeless and go with everything. those are all the bags I have, and I am happy with that.
As far as shoes, I own a total of 23 pairs of shoes...that includes boots, sandals, work shoes, and the 4 very expensive pairs I save for special occasions. I do not think that 23 pairs is alot. I do not have the patience or the space to have 100 pairs of shoes. So I would rather have a smaller amount of really nice shoes than a whole bunch of cheap ones that will fall apart in a month.
I did the Payless thing, and they are not worth the investment.
Like InStyle says, spend $500 on a classic well made item it will last years. Spend $5 on something and never wear it, you just wasted $5.

that's great for you, but there is a HUGE market between Pucci and Payless that people like myself shop in.
$$ does not always equal quality or ensure longevity. Unless you are buying handmade couture, they are still sewn together by people with machines in a factory.
walk through the fair behind the duomo in Florence, and you'll see bags, shoes, belts, jackets, or equal or greater quality for a fraction of the price you pay when you step into Gucci or LV.
you pay a HUGE mark up for the name. but that's cool for you too. I like my vacation and my shopping too.

Not trying to knock Payless or anything in between. I'm just saying I would rather have a few nice things rather than a ton of stuff I'll never use.
And the saying is true, you get what you pay for. I have two coats, a Burberry and Kenneth Cole. Both are nice, but I have gotten compliments on the Burberry because it is made better and fits better than the Kenneth Cole. And it is not obvious who either one is made by. It's just a nicer coat and will last longer because it is made better.
But some people like to have a whole bunch of coats, a white one, pink, purple, whatever. I just need 2, a black and a camel, that's it. So why can't I spend more money on it??
My SIL loves to have everything match. Shoes, bag, coat, everything. She is able to remember that she has a pink bag to go with her pick sweater. I can't remember stuff like that. It gets thrown into the abyss of my closet and never seen again. Her way makes her happy. My way makes me happy.
What's wrong with that??

Re: Can you girls tell me seriously
The only thing "designer" I have is 4 Coach bags...and I do use them all...usually rotate with the seasons...DH bought me two of them one was a gift and the other I bought myself, with the matching wallet...my newest Coach bag DH bought me for xmas...but I'm not buying anything till we get out of CC debt and I finish grad school.
I couldn't fathom buying a LV or any other high end designer bag right now...for now Coach is as high end as it goes.

I have to admit I buy what I want....but this is because Im single, living in nyc and only have to take care of myself and my cat....so I can afford pretty much what I want. I work hard therefore buy myself a few big ticket items a year that I just love. But there are trade offs....for example I don't care for designer shoes...I buy good shoes just not $200+. I spend on bags...my LV was a 30th bday gift to myself..my gucci bags I bought and one was a gift. My watch was a gift...but most other things are treats to myself.
