Can you tell me the good, the bad and the ugly of laser hair removal?
so ive been thinking about getting laser hair removal done. id love to get full leg, bikin and underarms done. wondering if i should consider just underarms first maybe to get used to the pain?
i have some questions: what did you get done? where did you go? good experience/bad experience? did it work/do you feel it was worth the money? what was the pain level? how many sessions did you do?
thanks in advance ladies!

Re: Can you tell me the good, the bad and the ugly of laser hair removal?
I started with underarms through a groupon and continued on . . . lip, chin, fingers, lower legs so far.
I go to a place in Rego Park, Queens which is really affordable and they have outstanding equipment and a very knowledgeable staff. FM me if you want a referral. Great experience!
I didn't expect it to work well because I have PCOS and was warned that it might not but with a groupon over two years ago, I decided I didn't have much to lose...except hair and it worked phenomenally for me and I didn't have the recommended amount of treatments even, it took less. It was worth every penny for the time I save shaving and waxing and the money spent.
The pain varies by area but seems to get better each time I do it, maybe because each time there's less to zap, I couldn't tell you. I know they hit me with max voltage at this point to target the stubborn hairs on the areas that I just started. For me, the lip is the worst! Other areas were not so bad. They sell a numbing cream which really does help but I only use it on my lip and the bony part of the front of my leg.
I did six for my underarms but didn't need any after the 4th one but that's what was included and then I did one touch up that I didn't really need because they had a special where if you did a certain area you got an underarm session free. I've done about 3 sessions on my lip and chin and have seen definite results meaning that the hair is almost gone but I do get a few hairs of regrowth here and there. I've done 2 sessions on my fingers and I'm done. I have done my lower legs twice now and the first time I felt discouraged because I had a lot of regrowth but the second time I saw much, much better results but will be continuing sessions on that area.
Anything else just ask!

Seasaw...I have a q for you:
How long do you have to let the hair grow before they can do the treatment?

before the initial treatment? I think they said no waxing or plucking for 6 or 8 weeks but you can shave. You can always shave, even in between treatments. shaving doesn't disrupt the laser's ability to see the hair under the skin because the hair is still there.
If you meant between treatments, that depends on the area. I think the face is a minimum of 6 weeks or so and my legs are a minimum of 8 weeks but I don't go back unless I have regrowth because otherwise it's a wasted treatment because there's nothing for the laser to "see".

Re: Can you tell me the good, the bad and the ugly of laser hair removal?
what did you get done? Over a course of years: the upper lip, under arms, legs, bikini area.
where did you go? Gentle Touch Hair Removal in Astoria
good experience/bad experience? good
did it work/do you feel it was worth the money? ABSOLUTELY!!!
what was the pain level? Depends on the area..it hurts but the only time I felt excrutiating pain was the bikini area..it's a very sensitive area
how many sessions did you do? it depends on the area..I'd say around 4-6 sessions for each area. I have light skin and dark hair so that reallly helped.
