Re: Candace Cameron Food & Fitness Diary...

I've never seen her look better in her life. I read the article first thing this morning, and I've been thinking about it all day. I've been dying to make a positive change myself, and I thought I could use some inspiration (not just eating, but exercise, too) No way. I just don't think it's realistic to "eat" *ahem* like this all day every day. I didn't think one could realistically survive on salads. Although I appreciate her candor, I thought that it was just bleh. I remember when Mariah Carey was at her fittest and she also talked about surviving on a bleak diet of broth and fish. Where's the vitamin C? Good sources of lean proteins? Omega-3's?
It's possible to look as fit as she does.while eating an "average, or typical" standard diet in moderation. I haven't learned the moderation part yet. Genetics plays a role but so does.diet and excercise.
Seriously though she looks amazing, better now than when she was younger.

Yes. She does look amazing. But that would not be enough food for me. Especially how much she works out. When I would work out, I would be starving.

I don't know what exactly is in those shakology shakes, but is this is really healthy? I agree with the pp- where's the lean protein? Omega 3? Though I'm no expert, I think it sounds really over controlled, unbalanced and not enough nutritionally. I think it's kind of weird that this magazine is glorifying this unrealistic (for us regular people) lifestyle.

Any mention of spending time with her 80 children in the schedule??? Eat like a bird, work out for 2 hours, work, flights.

She looks great but I think her plan is very unrealistic. I'm not a fan of having shakes as a meal replacement. A protein shake is not a dinner. I think having an apple for dessert is fine. Sometimes I'll do an apple with a little peanut butter. But she doesn't eat! She's going to get run down really quick.

Her diet sounds like an eating disorder to me. How many calories a day is she taking in? It doesn't sound like enough, especially with the exercise thrown in. Not to mention the lack of balance. I could see eating like this for a cleanse but I would think you'd have to throw in some additional foods after a while.

If that's her thing and she's healthy, go for it.
It's not my thing and doesn't have to be.

Agreed and its also not sustainable. Its better to be healthy and work out 2-3 times a week... All in moderation. Enjoy food. Enjoy life. THATS how being healthy works. All these crash diets and fads. Eating only salad and shakes. That wont last. And then what your heavier and unhealthier than before you started.
Just enjoy a healthy lifestyle. Stay active. Do things you enjoy.

She has 3 kids I believe, maybe 2. He oldest just graduated from highschool. You're thinking of her brother who has 6 or 7.
She took time at home when her kids were llittle and her husband was playing hockey. Now it's her turn to be working. I admire they have a balance.
As for the food I couldn't. I would need more. It doesn't seem like a lot. I know shakes replace meals, but a kale salad or lentil soup doesn't seem like a well balanced dinner.

Mine would go something like this:
9am: coffee, lots of it. 10am - Cinnamon Toast Crunch 12 - 2 cheese sticks 2 - cheez-its 6- Nachos, followed by buffalo wing flatbread, followed by carvel 8 - beer, lots of it.
Im a failure, or an aspiration....depending on who you are.

I could never survive on that little food! Her workouts do not sound too ridiculous. She says on her own she does 60 minutes, which is similar to me: 45-90 minutes depending upon the day. I literally eat every 2-3 hours and the foods I eat are much more substantial than her diet.

I admire how candid she is about it.
I don't like shakes at all - so I never have that type of breakfast - but her oats and coconut milk and salads are very similar to my usual breakfasts and lunches. And I work out four times a week and walk on my lunch breaks. And sometimes I get off the train two stops early and walk the rest of the way to work or to home. And yeah, sometimes my dessert is a piece of fruit...because I can't eat dessert every day; in fact I follow a low-sugar, anti inflammatory diet per my oncologist (and I don't use artificial sweeteners at all)
It's not easy but once it becomes routine, it's just how you end up operating.
I feel the best I have in years.
I really like how she is so real about it.

Re: Candace Cameron Food & Fitness Diary...
This doesn't look that much different than the amount of food I eat. I do eat meat and will eat a burger and fries occasionally and live for my chips and guac but I just generally don't have a big appetite. I run and work with a trainer and that doesn't make me any hungrier. And stuff like sweets just doesn't appeal all that much to me. Maybe that's the case with her. I am the same height and weight as her and always just chalked it up to being petite.

My entire diet today has consisted of caffeine & tacos.
no between meal snacks though!
For those of you asking about vitamins, Shakeology, supposedly has a lot of vitamins in it & can replace a multi-vitamin, but it is very low- cal. It is supposed to be a meal replacement when you are eating 6 small meals, or combined with milk or oatmeal for extra calories.(i've never taken it, but read about it b/c people on my FB feed are always pushing it.)
I do think though, this seems extreme to the everyday person, but she was already eating pretty healthy & lost a lot of weight a few years back, so, I think this is just a further refinement from there. It was like she went from my diet to this.
Also, she was back in the spotlight a few years ago after she lost a lot of weight & that eventually led to her being on TV again, so I can see how she would have trouble separating the 2. She said her job depends on it, but you don't have to be skinny to be on the view!

I love this!
Mine is similar. Replace the Cinnamon Toast Crunch with 2 bagels with vege cream cheese (hey I ate veges!) Replace the beer with wine and/or vodka Add in some iced sugar cookies, Doritos, cheese and crackers, cheese doodles, a burger and fries, a brownie sundae here and there. Tacos, LOTS of them. Diet Snapple- daily Pizza- at least twice a week.
My work out- I walk from my desk to the bathroom. I walk from the pool to the outdoor bar to grab a cocktail. Once in a while I will take the stairs to the second floor where I work- it's 13 steps total- I counted once! And then I pat myself on the back and go order a bacon egg and cheese on a roll from the cafeteria! It's all about balance!

Re: Candace Cameron Food & Fitness Diary...
I admire her self control. I love chips, bread, pasta, pizza, alcoholic drinks, and twizzlers!
On the other hand Monday- Friday My meals are generally healthy and clean with lots of whole grains fruits and veggies. I eat low fat dairy. I bring smoothies and lunch, often salads, to work everyday.
I am not consistent with working out anymore. I do try though. If I had time and a trainer things would be different!

I agree
Moderation is one thing her 'diet' is borderline eating disorder IMO. There is hardly any protein or OMEGA 3's like other posters have mentioned. Plus, with the way she works out (I follow her on IG) she can afford to eat a bit more than what she documented. She reminds me of the people who post pictures of like 2 spears of broccoli and a 1/2 ounce of steamed chicken, call it lunch and say they are full half way through.
I have friends who eat like this and workout like nuts (like 3-4 hours a day) and than balk at the idea of having more than ground turkey and egg whites one day. To me that is sad.

It's also a great way to start having your hair fall out and thin. You need protein and Omegas for your hair and skin

I have a lot of respect for anyone with this type of will power. I simply don't have it and love eating too much. I would be miserable all the time - I mean I look forward to a good meal! And I do love my wine and margaritas...

I don't see her daily Intake as being harmful at all. I'm sure she is getting all her nutrients from the foods she listed. Americans tend to over eat. This is her lifestyle, although to strict for me, more power to her that she can say "no"!
As long as she is not obsessing maybe she has overcome her ED?
