Can't get my 6 week post partum (c section) appointment until 12 weeks pp. Swimming question; Lovenox question, etc.
Very frustrated this happened but DH encountered a medical emergency so I had to reschedule my 6 week appointment which was supposed to be today. Best the office could offer was 6 weeks from now. They are a mess!
Anyway... If memory serves me right, I can basically return to all normal activities? I want to start exercising (OK this is my 3rd child so good luck to me) not sure where to start as with my last child it took me 3 years to get into a gym (I was a 2 under 2 mom with my first 2). Very important... can I SWIM or take a BATH??? I want to do both asap! I was thinking of just starting with my prenatal yoga video then build to going to the Y to use the elliptical after the baby has shots and maybe my older ones may go to camp. I tried showing my 6 year old how to jump rope 4 days ago and OUCH! Apparently that was not appropriate. Lol.
Finally, if anyone was on Lovenox... how long did you stay on it pp? In the past I was told 6 weeks with my other 2. My doctor said this time it may be as long as 6 MONTHS! Admittedly, I have been very bad at remembering my shots during the last 6 weeks. I know, not good.
I know they should be checking the incision but I need to get my life going here. I want to take my kids swimming, I need an Epsom salt bath so bad. This overall has been the easiest recovery of the 3 kids. I had a tubal ligation this time. Not sure if that impacts anything in my recovery or limits my ability to go forward with normal activity.

I don't know the answers to your questions but Can you email your dr or ask one of the nurses your questions?

that's ridiculous the couldn't squeeze you in somewhere for your 6 week appointment. I would call back and insist you talk to your dr I would tell him/her its ridiculous you cant be seen till then you have questions you need answered. Also I would be concerned that no one has checked the incision to make sure its heal correctly

I would call back and get an earlier appt.
As far as exercising you really just have to listen to your body because you def won't be able to a lot right away. I would sometimes feel like my insides were going to drop out. If your incision is completely healed I think swimming would be fine.
As for the Lovenox I would call and ask. I was one it for over 6 months post birth.

I would demand an earlier appointment - that's absolutely ridiculous. What if you had an emergency? It would take them that long to schedule you. They must have another time available at some point during the six weeks. What do they do for pregnancies that need to be seen every four weeks.

I would call and leave a message for your doctor to call you. Everyone heals at a different rate so there is not a set time frame for starting normal activities.

Re: Can't get my 6 week post partum (c section) appointment until 12 weeks pp. Swimming question; Lovenox question, etc.
Is it ok with your insurance that your post partum isn't within six weeks? I just scheduled mine and my doctor is booked my sixth week, so I told them they can make it a week later, but they said it would have to be a week earlier for my insurance to cover it. I know all insurances are probably different, but you want to make sure.
Everything else I would call and leave it all in a message for him to get back to you. The dr. should call you back, especially about the medication and then you can throw in all the other questions.

Sorry I don't remember any of this info. I'm sure they get some cancellations so maybe they can fit you in sooner if you can also be flexible.

Because you have a lot of medical questions that are person specific, you have to talk to a medical provider.
Good luck and congrats!!!

Thank you all. The kicker was that I rescheduled for Monday but they had to reschedule or I may not have been put in in the first place.
Wish I could get an appointment. Not sure what to do.

Call back and leave a message for your doctor. In my experience the doctor will find a way to fit you in even if it requires over booking. At the very least you will be able to talk to the doctor and have your concerns addressed by a medical professional familiar with your individual case especially since you are on lovenox.

I would call every single day - they are bound to have an opening eventually. I just wonder what they do about emergencies. The other day I had a postpartum issue and my OB/GYN saw me that same day.

I would call again everyday to see if they have a cancellation. Thats the most absurd thing i heard not being able to see the Dr. I mean you had surgery its not like a routine appt. and Yes I believe its 6 weeks for the Lovenox. I counted the days till my last shot!! but i have no other issues so would ask your Dr for sure though

That's bs they can't fit you in! That said I never went to my 6 week pp until my kids were 20 mo. I had no issues. I would call the dr and ask about the lovenox and swimming. I was on lovenox but didn't take it afterwards at all. The dr knew and said it was fine. Id still get the drs ok.

I agree with calling and asking for the doctor to call you back. I did this once and they suddenly found me an opening without having to involve the doctor.

I would not return to those activities until you've been examined. Keep calling the Dr to try to get it.
