"The Holidays" can mean AFTER January 2nd. Most HR peeps may have taken the last 2 weeks of the year off.
I agree. After the holidays to me means after New Year's. I'm only in a few days next week, but I'd rather start someone in January than in December
for budgeting, YE reasons. I wouldn't say that to anyone unless it was a done deal.
For a backup plan, I'd look into Health Plus NY. I imagine he'd have an offer by the first week in January.

Thank you so much everyone. I'm feeling a bit better now. I managed to go back to sleep and just shake it off. I know that logically they're probably waiting to start him in January and I know that the HR people are out of the office, so I am just having some floating anxiety over it. I just needed to get it out here because I really don't want JT to know that i'm worrying. I keep telling him it's going to work out, and for the most part I believe that, but there's still that doubt in my mind. Anyway, thank you all for your words of encouragement. I do feel better

No worries just yet - I know it is hard but think about it: after Christmas/Holidays could mean Monday, Tuesday or EVEN (like another poster said) after New Year's. I've learned, from past experience, that not much gets done until the Holidays are over... So, just remind yourself of that and try to keep a positive frame of mind!!

After the holidays may also include NYE. I know its hard not to, but try not to stress. I really don't think the company would have said what they said to JT if they weren't planning on hiring him. Regardless have a backup in case of anything. There are health ins. options, someone posted about Health plus NY. Could JT file for unemployment for the time being? Also sometimes companies offer diff. ins. plans you can choose from that cost less than the more common ones. Could you look into it with your school after the break? There may be some option available for the time being.
I'm sending you and praying for you.  EVerything will somehow work out.

I think its rather comforting that his current (ex) company is trying to place him somewhere else.
I was once laid off from a company way back when due to lousy overall company sales. Half the staff was laid off. They ended up moving me to a sister company/division and my career took off since!
Also after the holidays is probably after New Years, or at LEAST after Christmas. Most of the big-wigs that OK the final hiring decisions (executives) are probably out these two weeks so nothing will get done.

I agree with the other poster that said the holidays may mean after Jan 2nd. Don't worry! If they sounded confident that he got the job, chances are that he got it.

I am sooo sorry you are going through this and your hubby must feel the weight of this too. Lot's of for you.
On a positive note Christmas was on Thursday and now we are in the weekend. I would think Monday would be the earliest that he would hear from them. And probably have him start right after the New Year!! I know the wait must seem like forever but try to stay positive and enjoy the holiday weekend as a family and if youneed to vent we are here.
