car size with 2 children (poll)

if you have 2 children in carseats, what size car do you drive and do you wish it were larger or smaller?

i am debating a 5 passenger or a 7 passenger (sedan or SUV)?

I have a 5 passenger SUV and its perfect. We need the extra trunk space for the double stroller.

Our escape (5 seater) got too small to have as our biggest car. I am now a mini-van mom but I LOOOVE it

i cannot find a 7 pass SUV that I love that isnt $$$$$$$

i will admit, i was looking at the new 2011 Nissan Quest and OMG but, i just dont know if i can make the minivan leap, yet. We only have one child now but will probably have another during the time of my next lease so im trying to plan ahead ... ugh. I WISH jeep still made the commander

We have a Nissan Rogue. We LOVE it......but it's just too small. With the 2 car seats and the double stroller, there's no extra room.

I cringe as I type this, but our next car will be a mini van. It really is the most practical solution.

2 days before I found out we were pregnant, DH and I upgraded to the Tahoe. We needed the extra space for Emerson and all her c rap
Low and behold we're going to need to add another car seat into the mix and i'm kind of stressing about it.
The Tahoe is 7 passenger. The 2nd row are just 2 captains seats. So those 2 seats will have 2 car seats. We can't utilize the 3rd row at all b/c we'd have to keep removing the car seats for people to get in and out At least we'll have a lot of trunk space lol

In Cali we had a Town & Country. OMG we LOVED it. But I just don't think I can do a mini van. At least not yet...i'm sure i'll get their one day

I don't love any of those either except maybe the buick enclave. When we just got this car DH made me look at the minivan the Honda Odessey, I just can't do it and it was sooo It was over 40k!

Depends on the age of your children and how much you want to spend.

I have a Mazda 5. Very inexpensive. Has a 3rd row (but the trunk would be unusable). I keep the 3rd row folded (it's completely flat!) and the trunk is really big. Big enough that I would have a double stroller without even an issue. I just got a glider and ottoman both in the trunk this morning without any issues.

For 3 kids, that car would be too small with a stroller.

I have the Hyundai Santa Fe. Right now I have 2 convertible car seats in the back (for DS and a friends DC who I babysit) and its fine, I can even fit a booster in the 3rd seat. The trunk large enough as well.

Another Hyundai Option is the veracruz, its their 7 seater option.

I have a Honda Pilot and love it. I was in the same situation; our lease was up on our CRV and knew that we would try to get pregnant in the next year or so. We purchased the pilot instead of leasing again.

We have a small minivan. Each car seat is in a captain's chair and it seats 7 total which I love, but I wish we opted for the model with the bigger wheel base so we would have more cargo space.

When we have all seats occupied, there is very little storage space behind the last row. With a stroller, it's tight.

If you dont want an SUV, my brother got an Impala and he fits two Britax car seats and I can still fit in the middle.
Decent trunk space too!

We have a 7 pass SUV- toyota highlander.

While we love it. it does not fit our double stroller in the back if we have the 3rd row up for the 7 pass seating. We usually either roof rack the double stroller if we need it, bring 2 single strollers, or don't use the 3rd row and use it as trunk space.

We have 3 DD's of which 2 are in car seats so the eldest is smooshed in between the 2 car seats when we don't use the 3rd row.

Check out the Mazda CX7 (5 passenger) and CX9 (7 passenger). If you don't get ALL the bells and whistles, you can buy the CX9 for much less than most of the other options you listed, and the 3rd row isn't TINY, so it's usable!

We have a 7 passenger SUV and 2 kids. We will always have a nice size dog and we like to have my parents ride with us if we go out(which is pretty often). Love this size!

ETA: I have an Acadia that is a total lemon. I love the Pilot and the CX9. Kia makes one that is nice as well.

I only have 2 kids now, and 99.99% sure they will be our only two Last year, when my lease was up on my truck, I was adamant about getting a vehicle with a 3rd row. While I don't need the 3rd row for my family, I wanted to be able to have the ability to take more people in the car with us, whether it be grandparents, friends or even the kids friends. I have the Buick Enclave and I love it.

I had a Rav4 (with 2 carseats) until this summer. Now I drive an Audi Q5. Its larger than my Rav4 was, and I have enough room in between the seats to sit there if we have a 5th passenger. I've even had my niece in her infant seat between the 2 car seats (its a tight fit, but doable).

Al drives a Crosstour, which also allows for someone to squeeze in between the car seats.

I had the 5 vs 7 passenger debate also, but I don't like driving big cars. We also don't have additional passengers often.

eta: with car seats the third row seemed somewhat impractical, since I'd have to be moving car seats to access it, and I didn't want to lose truck space.

Depends if you're thinking long term.

I had an SUV with both kids in car seat (5 passenger) but now that they're older - if they each have a friend, that 3rd row comes in very handy.

I actually have 6 seater (including the front passenger seat) & LOVE It...We opted for bucket seats in the first back row & that has worked out great with the carseats. I do believe you need the extra trunk space, my double stroller takes up one whole side of the trunk
