Carpet: Empire v. Home Depot v. Smaller store..
Any recs? Which is cheaper? Better install? Do you know of any other places that I should check out.
I am not looking for next day but, maybe in a week.
Home Depot will not be able to put it in until 3 weeks from Saturday.
Is Empire worth calling?
TIA.

I would be interested in this as well. I would like to get a runner for our stairs.

Empire quoted me MUCH higher then my local carpet place. And, they were much too pushy for me.
I would call for an estimate though, it can't hurt!

Try Jim Flack carpet in Farmingdale. Super cheap. Very friendly. Great selection. Can install whenever u want it done.
We've used them for all of our carpeted rooms.

i went to All Carpet in Seaford on merrick road and they gave us decent prices, and they had a decent selection in stock. a friend of mine also recommended the Floor Store on 110 in farmingdale.
we wound up going with Class Carpet, in Levittown right off hempstead turnpike. they were about the same price and they had a lot in stock also. they measured and installed within a week.

We used Home Depot. Got really nice carpets for our bedroom and they had installation of only $97.00 for ALL rooms (other places were more than 500!) so we saved a ton of money. We also used a 10% off coupon

Re: Carpet: Empire v. Home Depot v. Smaller store..
We just got a carpet from G. Fried in Westbury and we were very happy with them.
We had checked out lowes and Home Depot and actually, the woman from Lowes really helped us out. She told us exactly what to look for when rug shopping. She also said that the main benefit from not using lowes or home depot is that you can bargain with the other stores.
We had Empire come in for an estimate and we actually were going to use them but we found something much nicer for less money. When DH called to cancel, the manager offered $300 off!!
