Re: Carpeting.......Empire / Carpet One / Home Depot??
Carpet One was double the price of Home Depot. We didn't try Empire. Ultimately we went to Jim Flack carpet in Farmingdale and paid 1/3 of what Carpet One quoted us. I picked the carpet on Thurs. They measured on Fri and installed on Saturday. Great carpet!

Did you go with a high end padding?
I have heard that you can go with an "okay" carpet but go for the good padding.
You think it's true?

I went with Empire. So far I love my carpet. The pricing was good and you can definitely knock them down.....They gave me a price and I basically told them what I wanted to pay and they came down to it.

We went with Lowes. They were having a special: carpet your entire house for $97 plus the cost of the carpet. We got the high end carpet with padding for the den, living room, and one bedroom for $1500.

I just heard some not so great things about Empire. We have used Home Depot and the wait was a little long but we were happy with them.

We also went with them based on reviews from here. They installed it actually last friday, and did a great job, we love it!

What size is the room? We did great at the Remnant place on Sunrise. They had some pretty big peices and A LOT to choose from. They also offered to install the next day, but we weren't ready for it.

Re: Carpeting.......Empire / Carpet One / Home Depot??
Katie, I found Empire one of the most expensive out there. I would go with Home Depot or Lowes or as Tracy suggested a remnant company. They will be the cheapest.
