Yeah actually, if there is proof she told someone she used to chloroform Caylee, why couldn't that be used in court? It doesn't make sense... Was this a detective who talked to her on 1/2010 or a therapist of some sort or what?
It is a detectives notes. It doesnt say who?? I can't believe she said she gave her DD chloroform!! I am guessing the defense fought for it not to be in there because of the Baez statements.

I don't understand why the prosecution got to speak twice in closing arguments. I think that gives them an unfair advantage.
Either side has had the appropriate chances to object and speak their minds during deposition, trial, etc. For the closing, each side should be allowed to just say their piece and then that's it.
I'm just being an armchair lawyer here, so if anyone is more familiar with the field, I'd love to hear a logical, persuasive reason why the prosecution should get a chance to rebut. It just doesn't seem fair at all.
The rebuttal is NOT another closing argument but only a rebuttal of the facts/arguments the defense used.
Maybe that is what it's supposed to be but it sure did sound to me like another chance at a closing argument. She appealed to the jury in what I found to be a general way, that did more than just rebut certain points of the defense.
I didn't realize about the time, though, so thank you.
I think there's a little bit of leeway and its up to the judge to decide....and JB did try to object to a lot, so its up to the judge. And like a PP mentioned, it's the state's case, they brought upon the charges, so they they can finish....but they also have all the burden of proof...the defense doesn't have to provide ANY proof if they don't want to

on wesh.com they have a sentence calculator and if you do the lesser of the charges, she could have as little as 4 more years in jail... that is not enough!! Is she 25 now? That would mean she wouldn't even be 30 when she gets out! That is not OK... she could still have a life at that point. I really hope she is found so guilty so she gets life (or DP but I doubt that and I don't really care, as long as she gets life). Even 15 years is not enough. Then she's be 40 when she got out. Blah. not good enough.

Why wouldn't they have that detective on as a witness to testify??? If she actually confessed to those things and now gets off because they weren't allowed to use it, not only will I lose faith in the justice system, but could you imagine how the jurors would feel if they let her off easy and then saw this stuff?

I'm scared they won't finish until tomorrow. I have an appointment that I can't change from 12:30-3:00.... out of the entire week, I am only unable to watch tomorrow between 12:30-3:00.... why do I feel like for some reason that is of course when they are going to be ready to decide...

Agreed. She was pretty stoic throughout most of the trial UNTIL the last days of closing arguments.. I think that rattled her.. seeing her last night on TV she looked like absolute sh!t..

I haven't been able to follow it or the case, but I see they are deliberating now.
Did Casey admit to ANYTHING at all in regards to Caylee? Is her defense that she accidentally drowned and then she left her in that field to look like someone had killed her?
Or am I misunderstanding?

I believe her story is that Caylee drowned and her father yelled at her and told her that her mother was never going to forgive her and he helped her cover it up.

you are misunderstanding..
she said that caylee drowned and her FATHER, who she also accused of (along with her brother) of molesting her (casey not caylee), took the baby and put duct tape over her mouth and in a bag and threw her in a swamp around the corner of the house to cover up the drowning..
she has admitted to giving the baby chloroform to drug her and go out.. used to put her in the trunk of the car or lock her in the bedroom

No this was never admitted
If she had admitted this, it would have already been felony murder (which is under murder 1), no questions
