Cash for Appliance Clunkers?

Has anyone heard anything about this? I google and keep reading that for NY it would be starting President's Week...we have 1-2 "clunkers" we keep waiting to replace because we don't want to miss out...

i read it and don't get it. why does the bundle option allow trade in on a dishwasher, but the single one doesn't? it makes no sense to me?
i need a fridge (i wouldn't be recycling it, just moving it to garage... i must have extra) and dishwashwer and amicrowave. why do those not rebates? i guess they aren't that bad on energy?

i work for a utility program promoting ENERGY STAR products, and while i don't have anything to do w this gov't program, i do know that we don't offer rebates on microwaves b/c there are no ENERGY STAR qualified units. and dishwashers are nearly all ENERGY STAR anyway, so the chance of you buying an ENEGY STAR unit instead of a non-ENERGY STAR is highly likely. Since the purpose of this program is to get people to switch out their old, inefficient models w new low-energy models, they probably don't want to offer a rebate flat out for dishwashers since you're probably gonna buy an efficient one no matter what, so instead they are offering it only w a bundle purchase.

i read the info on that site too and it DOES seem a bit confusing. i believe there is a hotline number listed...you should call them w any questions to clarify.

and also, what it seems to say on their rebate form for refrigerators is that you get a rebate automatically just for purchasing an ENERGY STAR refrigerator, and that there is an additional rebate for recycling.

We would only be interested in buying 1 or 2 appliances at this time, so the package deal is out...one of the appliances is a dishwasher, the other a refrigerator...right now, you can get $75 back without the program, so you'd get $30 more if you recycle it...don't know if I'd rush to do it in the next week, but will see...

yeah, if you are a LIPA customer you can get a $75 rebate for an ENERGY STAR refrigerator through the end of the year.

i don't know how close you are to deer park, but there is a pc richards that has a scratch n dent clearance center; it's a HUGE warehouse, and they have a lot of refrigerators for cheaper, sometimes there is nothing wrong w them, the customer just might have measured wrong and returned it...and once it's out of the box they can't sell it as new anymore, so it gets sent there and they sell it for cheaper. you might find a really great deal there, and they have the LIPA rebates.
