CDC Thanksgiving Guidelines
They can recommend anything they want. They also recommended people not celebrate religious holidays with 300 other unmasked people. Brooklyn will tell you how that turned out. I am more than happy to follow the rules when it comes to masks, social distancing, and not going into crowded stores & restaurants. But nobody will tell me I can't have my family members in my own home on Thanksgiving.

Re: CDC Thanksgiving Guidelines
My parents are uncomfortable now that my kids are back in school so I’m expecting it to be just the 4 of us.
I think we should all wait and see what the numbers look like closer to the day and do what you are comfortable with. At the height of the infection there were entire families wiped out so it’s scary.

Mine too. With 14 kids in the family who are in school, plus some teachers and nurses, I don’t think Thanksgiving dinner is worth possibly killing one if our parents.

Phew! Thank goodness the CDS gave us the guidelines! I had NO idea how to live my life and was anxiously awaiting more rules. Virtual Thanksgiving sounds divine. Thank you CDC, at least I know you are never wrong!

I'm also very glad they have those highway signs reminding us to wash our hands...with soap. I forget daily and tend to just splash a little water on my hands after using the can. I make a point to drive the state roadways daily for this very important reminder. I'm now anxiously awaiting instructions on how I can celebrate Christmas with the same family members I have been seeing every week since May. Baited breath....

CDC Thanksgiving Guidelines
The older/vulnerable people in my family will happily take the risk rather than miss out on even MORE time spent with their grandchildren, nieces and nephews (especially at the holidays!). My family will be celebrating the holidays with or without the CDC’s approval.
Oh and btw - drinking is high risk- it makes you make poor decisions... And picking pumpkins at a pumpkin patch is moderate risk! Come the f on already. What’s the point in living anymore?

Re: CDC Thanksgiving Guidelines
After everyone spent Easter on their own this year, I don't think my family will go for the isolated Thanksgiving. My grandmother is the most vocal of the bunch about that. She said she would rather be dead than spend another holiday alone.
Even though my kids are back in school, my parents continue to watch my kids (their choice) and they bring them to see my grandmother several times per week. That's their choice. I would get a babysitter but they aren't having it. If the numbers start to get crazy again, they may change their tune.

Right! I’d be so lost with out their recommendations. I wouldn’t know how to live. CDC can go scratch.

Definitely agree. My FIL is high risk and if we had to do daycare and school and after school I don't think I'd let my kids or myself be around him. But we kept DD remote and kept DS from daycare so we'll probably do Thanksgiving as we normally do. It's the very same people I've been with who have been very careful since March.

Same kind of thing here. It's too high stakes a game to mess around.

Their guidelines are actually law, don’t u know??...At least for some ppl . I mean even Cuomo thinks wearing a mask is the law and not an executive order. Why in the world would I not believe everything he says. He’s our governor therefore he knows more than I.

Well he is claiming he will be the one to have a Covid free state. Even though viruses don't disappear from the face of the earth. So, perhaps he's a magician of some sort.

CDC Thanksgiving Guidelines
The Halloween ones are funny, too. I can't grasp how traditional ToT is the same risk category as "going to an indoor haunted house where people may be crowded together and screaming."
I also want to know who compiles these lists because I'm totally submitting my resume.

I have a serious question. If they are just working for the president now, wouldn't they be saying the opposite? Wouldn't they be downplaying risks?

It's the typical "Do as I say, not as I do" routine. So many politicians are like this. It's really disgusting.

I was genuinely confused at that statement as well. I haven’t read the CDC guidelines but I thought they were more strict and rigorous. Where as Trump has been on the opposite end.

I read an article that categorized decorating one's own home as a low-risk activity. I mean, I guess I get why they don't want to label something as no-risk, but I don't understand why this activity was even included. Placing some pumpkins around my house seems quite benign of an activity to be on a list of potentially risky behaviors.

I’d bet almost all. Every infectious disease expert I follow has been strict about protocols. A few have visited family, but have socially distanced/worn masks religiously and don’t see others.
