Cereal or bottle first??

Do you give DC the bottle first or cereal first? I have been giving DD her bottle first, mainly because she is not a great eater (when it comes to her formula). But she loves the cereal and then won't drink any of the bottle.

Also do you mix the fruits in the cereal or give it seperately?

In the beginning, I gave her cereal first. But that was because she prefered the bottle. I started with cereal and BM for a while. Added fruits probably a few months later.

I always breastfeed first (DS has been having solids for about a month) - sometimes I give him solids about an hour after breastfeeding. Their milk is still more caloric and more nutritious than anything they're fed at this point and it's more important to get that in them than the cereal.

I mix the fruit in with the cereal.

I always gave my DD her bottle first. About an hour and 15 minutes after that I would give her the solids. I didn't mix the veggies or fruit into the cereal.

The bottles are the most important thing right now for them. The solids are more for practicing chewing, experiencing new textures, etc. It is not meant to be their main form of nutrition which is why I always made sure DD had her bottles first before anything else.

I do 7 oz. bottle around 6 a.m. Then she goes back to sleep. Cereal around 8 (when we start fruits next week, I'll mix them with the cereal- couldn't bring myself to add veggies to it). Then a 4 or 5 oz. bottle around 9.
