changing kitchen countertops
has anyone just changed the countertops keeping the cabinets? our cabinets are in great shape but the countertops  I have been very rough and careless and the laminate looks really bad now.
I'm not even sure which type of countertop we would go with, any suggestions ?

We just got granite and I LOVE it....didn't think that I would love a countertop so much
We got a great price, if you are interested in the number, let me know!
And I think it is FINE to just change the countertop...I think it will make the kitchen look different!

We changed our countertops and backspalsh (laminate to granite, with a tile backsplash) but left the cabinets alone. It's still a work in progress so I can't post pics yet, but it already looks so different!

We changed my laminate countertops to granite. We also added a backsplash and changed paint/hardware/floor/sink. It made a huge difference. My cabinets were in great shape so I felt bad tossing them. We plan a big kitchen remodel in two years so we didn't want to waste $$$$ now.
