Chevy is Coming out with a Hybrid Full-Size SUV
I knew I heard something about this...
America's First Full-Size Hybrid SUV is Coming This Fall...
I think this is great news! Now my green-conscious friends won't shudder quite as much when they see my driving down the road!

My DH has been looking into it, but from what he has read, the gas mileage still isn't all that great (I believe it was around 26mpg).

Yeah, I don't get much better than that either.
The gas mileage won't be too much better but it will cut emissions significantly which is most certainly a step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned.

Jen, I've been talking about this for months.
I can't wait to actually test drive one.
I always said Chevy would get it right!

I'm with you though, I really would love to test drive it. My sister has an '04 or '05 model (I can't remember) and it drives beautifully. Not to mention the seats are SO comfortable! It's like sitting in a leather lazy boy that heats up!

Actually, my DH was looking at it to replace his current SUV which is a Jeep Grand Cherokee which only gets between 12-13. (We plan on keeping my truck, which is an Excursion.)
The biggest draw for us to the Hybrid Tahoe is the towing capacity.

Sounds like it's using several fuel-saving techniques. This article says that several other manufacturers are following suit. That should keep the bigger SUVs around for a while. Not sure if that's a good thing, or a bad thing.....

I'm a Mopar man myself. I'm looking forward to the Dodge Durango hybrid, with a Hemi.....

The new MDS Hemis turn off 4 cylinders at highway speeds, so it gets a reported 20% better mileage. The hybrid part will save more. They are not fuel-economic by any means, but at least with these new features, they are a little less thirsty.
