cio for naps - question
Did anyone have to CIO for naps but not at night? Can you share what you did?
DS does not really sleep much during the day and he is miserable because he gets overtired. I am at a loss.

Re: cio for naps - question
Well yes and no.
We did CIO for naps 1st. Then we did CIO at night a few weeks later.
We had to do it. He was so overtired and miserable and he does NOT fall asleep on his own, no matter how hard we try. This made him very difficult, so finally CIO it was.
Basically we put him in his crib for naps and he cried. The 1st time he cried for 45 minutes and then fell asleep. The next day it was 10 minutes. Then 3 minutes. Then nothing.
He was so much better because of it. You could see the HUGE difference it made. My happy baby returned.
For naps, you don't let them cry as long as it takes. You let them cry up to an hour (otherwise it can mess up their routine) and then you go take them out and try it all over again for the next nap.
It's going to take a few days, maybe a week, but it will work.

Thanks so much! During that hour do I go in at all? If so, how often?

I don't believe you do for naps. I don't know though because going in... only made ds more upset. So we never did the checks.

it depends on the baby. the two times i went in to DS when he was crying it only made things MUCH worse. but some babies like to be comforted a bit when they are crying. you might have to experiment a bit.
