Class List for Parents?

I'm curious if elem teachers give class lists to parents (contact info for the other parents, birthdays, etc.)

DS isn't in K yet but he will be taking the bus so I'm wondering how playdates are arranged if parents do not have as much contact with one another.

dd is in first grade and since preschool we have gotten a class list with addresses, phone numbers and sometimes email addresses on them..hth

Our school calls it a friendship list. It has names, addresses, phone #s and parents names. You have to give permission for your child's info to be included.

In the school that I teach in, we are not allowed to send home class lists. According to my principal, its against the privacy laws. Seems silly since parents voluntarily would want their info on the list. It's such a nuisance for parents not to have a list.

We got a list at the start of the year with just names. Then we get a PTA directory with all the students in the school. It's voluntary but it seems like most people participate.

I am the class mom for my son's class. There is a first name only list of the children on the class webpage. I collect every parent's email address to communicate with them. I asked everyone if they were ok with sharing their names, kids names, and parent email addresses, if one parent says no then no one gets anything. That is the school rule. We had a few parents decline to share their info so this year no list went out and I have to bcc every email. Last year everyone in the class was fine with distributing their info so I sent out a list.

We do a class list with emails....voluntary though so a few do not participate.

DS's teacher sent a letter home asking if we wanted to contribute and what info we wanted on it. If someone didn't want their info, they didn't get the list, and they didn't get the list and weren't included on the list. I think there are about 20 kids on the list and about 15 participated.

Last year in K and this year in 1st we are emailed a list with everyone in the class' name, address, phone and cell, and email. Parents names as well. The class mom calls and gets the info. Anyone can opt out but so far no one has.

I am class parent in DD's class and sent home a paper to all parents asking for their full name, address, phone number, email and parents names. If people did not want to be on the list they didn't have to. I got all but 3 back and made the list from there. I only put the first names of the kids that did not send back at bottom, just so people can send in enough of stuff for parties.

The teachers are not supposed to give anything beyond first names.

DD's nursery class did.

DS' Kindergarten class has a shutterfly share website where the parents can choose to put in their contact information.

Most teachers will let the class parent go out to the other parents to see if they want to provide their information

This is the first year my school will not provide a class list. I'm the class mom so on open school night back in October I brought a sign up sheet. I explained that it was optional and asked them to only provide information they want to share with the class (I asked for parents name, child's name, address, email and phone.)

EVERY parent signed up!

When DS was in Kindergarten, at open school night the teacher had us fill out (if we wanted) a friend's list which was name, address and phone number. This year, the teacher did the same thing, but only took names and phone numbers.

yes, we get an entire school directory each year. You must give permission for your info to be published.

Yes. I am one of 2 class mothers and we had to get this to the class. We are not allowed to include e-mail addresses, though. Last year I just thought the e-mail addresses were left out by mistake. When the class mothers e-mail anyone from class we are supposed to bcc. I don't know why but somewhere someone decided that e-mail had more privacy issues than home addresses.

I didn't get a class list. My dds are in nursery in a catholic school
