::Cocoa's IVF Journal:: Update 2/22 BFN

Walk by FAITH not by SIGHT Corinthians 5:7

Herstory:
One miscarriage at 7 weeks in 2006 (Not TTC ) and 2 chemical pregnancies (August 2009 and December 2009 since we have been officially TTC).

1/2/10 ...............
Baseline U/S & B/W
ALL CLEAR! Started BCP's and will be on them for 3 weeks.


1/16/10 ...............
Paid my 25% insurance co-pay with GHI for this IVF cycle. I am relieved to get all of the financial business out of the way! Next appointment is January 22.

1/22/10 ...............
Baseline U/S & B/W
ALL CLEAR! I start stims for IVF on Tuesday! I will be on the Antagonist: Step-Up/Step-Down Protocol. I have PCOS so I will also be on Metformin and I have one copy of MTHFR C677T and a small amount of Annexin V Antibodies so I will be on low dose Predisone, one Baby Aspirin per day and Lovenox.

1/23/10 ...............
IVF Meds arrive from Freedom Fertility Pharmacy. The meds came in 2 large boxes. I will be on Follistim, Menopur, & eventually Ganirelix. Dr. B will either trigger me with Lupron or HCG depending on my response as to minimize the risk of OHSS.

1/26/10 ...............
Start stims! 375iu Follistim; 40mg Lovenox (Everyone told me the Lovenox really burns so I was nervous, but it really was not that bad ) I will be on this dosage until Friday when I have my next appointment with Dr. B.

1/29/10 ...............
First early Follie Check. After 3 nights of stims, there are many small unmeasurable follies on my left and right ovaries. Tonight I drop to 300iu Follistim; add 75 iu Menopour and continue 40mg Lovenox (Mixing the Menopur for the first was very interesting. Nurse K gave me an instruction packet and I also looked at a Menopur injection video on youtube lol). I will be on these dosages until Monday when I meet with with Dr. B. again.

1/31/10 ...............
Tonight (6th night of stims) I add Ganirelix. This (GnRH) antagonist will prevent my premature luteinizing hormone (LH) surge and prevent my eggs from being released prematurely before my ER.


2/1/10 ...............
2nd Follie Check. After 6 nights of stims with Follistim, Menopur and Lovenox I added Ganirelix last night. At my u/s this afternoon I had 10 follies on my left about 11mm and at least 10 on my left around 11mm. So far my Dr. B says we are right on track for an ER over the weekend. He is also watching my E2 levels closely to make sure I don't overstim I start antibiotics tonight and I go back Wednesday.

2/3/10 ...............
Had b/w and u/s this afternoon. I now have 15 follies on both ovaries today they were 12mm up from 11mm on Monday. I am on day 9 of stims. Dr. B told me I should be 1 or 2 mm's ahead but that PCOS girls sometimes get resistant so he upped my dose of Menopur for tonight. He did not want to up me too much he wants to go slow because he said he dosen't want a big BOOM of follies all of a sudden. I go back Friday and my ER will be early next week instead of this weekend. Praying that my follies continue to grow...

2/5/10 ...............
Night 11 of stims and I had b/w and u/s with Dr. B this afternoon. My E2 levels are rising nicely. I have a lot of follies many mature, some immature so I do my last dose of stims tonight (225iu Follistim, 2 vials of Menopur) and it is back to Dr. B tommorow morning for another u/s. He is trying to get the immature follicles to catch up to the ones that are ready for trigger. Dr. B is most likely going to trigger me tomorrow evening for ER on Monday!

2/6/10 ...............
Last u/s and b/w with Dr. B. I am Triggering Tonight with Lupron! My ER is on Monday!

2/7/10 ...............
Triggered at 1:30 am. I had to take an OPK to make sure I had my LH surge and that the Lupron Trigger work. I took the OPK in the bathroom at church before my bishop's sermon. Got 2 lines and left a message with Dr. B after church. Dr. B called me right back to make sure I got 2 lines ER is at 12 noon on Monday!

2/8/10 ...............
I was knocked out so the Dr went and talked to my husband after the ER. They got 16 eggs. Dr. B told me the other day that he thought they would get somewhere around 20. Before they knocked me out the Embryologist told me they would call me with the Fert Report tomorrow. The AFS Anesthesiologist, Nurse, Embryologist and the head Dr. were very nice and suprisingly they were waiting for me when I got there and took me right back to change for the ER. Thanks for all of your Well Wishes thus far

First Giving Honor to God he is Awesome...

The Embryologist and I played phone tag today. Turns out they got 20 eggs yesterday after all was said and done. She called me at 9:56 am but I was teaching a class. 17 of those 20 eggs were mature and14 out of the 17 fertilized with ICSI. She believes we will go to a five day transfer on Saturday but she is going to call me back Thursday with another Report!

Day 3 Report/5 Day Transfer is On!
I spoke with the Embryologist this morning and our Day 5 Transfer is set for Saturday at 10:00 am. She said so far all is going very well and that she is pleased.

Day 3 Grading @ my clinic:

Grade 1: even cell division, no fragmentation
Grade 2: even cell division, small fragmentation
Grade 3: uneven cell division, moderate fragmentation

12 8-10 cells Grade 1

1 6 cell Grade 2

1 4 cell Grade 3

Praying that all goes well with our ET on Saturday...

Introducing...


The ET went very smooth! We transferred 2 4AA perfect blasts! Before the transfer Dr. B the embryologist (she ROCKS) sat down with me and went over how the rest of our embryos were doing. So far, only 1 fizzled out (the 4 cell) and the rest of our little munchkins are still growing and she said we defintely already have about five to freeze and most likely more. Dr. V came in for the transfer and gave me a high five (he ROCKS too) and said he was very proud. The transfer took no more than 15 minutes and they made me lay down afterwards for 20 minutes. When I showed Mr. JustUs the photo he smiled. Thank you all so much for your Thoughts & Prayers and Encouragement! Beta is 2/22... and God willing Our Little Munchkins are here to stay...

BFN.

I am keeping my spirits up and I am keeping faith in God that someway things are going to work out. I believe God has placed me on this journey to test my FAITH and to allow me to become a stronger person. My DH was very encouraging and he as well as I believe that things will happen at God's appointed time. Dr. B was surpised I didn't get a positive result because of the quality of the munchkins. He wants me to come in tomorrow for some immune bloodwork testing that he is sending to Chicago. Once he gets the results back then we will schedule the FET most likely in April. Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes.

I know what you mean, it's such a huge weight of your shoulders to get things paid for!
