Cold cut related . . .
I went to lunch with my mom today and I have been craving Panera (I'm 39 weeks). I ordered a sandwich and asked them to hold the bacon, which they did. When it came, I realized it was a turkey cold cut (I guess I thought it was roasted turkey) anyway, I didn't want to upset my mom and not eat anything, so I kind of ate half, around the edges and was worried the whole time. It was a heated panini, so I'm hoping that is sufficient for heating the cold cut. I probably ate just about half. Should I be concnerned? I've been so good this whole pregnancy! I swear, getting close to the end and I didn't even realize! Any words of reassurance are appreciated! TIA!

I have had cold cuts from time to time and everything is good, I wouldn't worry.

Re: Cold cut related . . .
You're fine.
I had 2 different doctors and neither one ever said no cold cuts, but I hear it from other people all the time. I feel like you should be more concerned about the lettuce on your sandwich than the cold cuts. They are probably pre-packaged anyway so wouldn't be at risk for listeria bacteria.

Thank you ladies!! I have heard cold cuts are ok so long as they're fresh. I think Panera is generally pretty good! THANK YOU!!

It's because of the nitrates, same reason you "can't" have hot dogs. I ate both on occasion.

You can eat bacon. You can eat cold cuts. You're fine. OP: I eat cold cuts (not heated) at least once a week. You're fine too.

Cold cut related . . .
I ate cold cuts from time to time. Baby is healthy and happy. I'd be more concerned catching Listeria from spinach. Fruits, and now blue bell ice cream :/

Re: Cold cut related . . .
I have had that turkey panini but with the bacon.
They told me it was heated and mine came out pretty warm. I'm sure you are fine. I feel like I'm more likely to get listeria from a freaking cantaloupe or something.

Exactly! There's a "risk" in pretty much everything. We all have to eat though!

Re: Cold cut related . . .
As recent news stories show, you have a better chance of getting listeria from hummus, ice cream, melon, etc. As long as you're eating from a reputable place, which Panera is, you don't have anything to worry about.

I ate unheated cold cuts my entire pregnancy and it was approved by my dr. He said the cold cuts craze is new and there is no reason for it

Re: Cold cut related . . .
You're totally fine. I ate cold cuts and bacon while I was pregnant and even drank in the beginning because I didn't know I was pg until I was already 2 months. DD is 16 months and a happy healthy little girl. Besides, as a pp said, at 39 weeks, baby is fully cooked and ready to go!
