Re: Cold water challenge on Facebook
I don't get my panties in a bunch.
Frankly I don't have time to worry about what goes on on FB all day long like some do.

I would just ignore it, probably.
Yes.
If I didn't want to participate, I wouldn't respond. As is the case with most things that I'm not interested in on FB.
Same.
Same.
I've also never heard of it until this thread and I'm on FB all the time!

Re: Cold water challenge on Facebook
I haven't heard of it but it sounds pretty silly. I wouldn't participate but would make a donation if it was a charity that I wanted to contribute to. It kinds of makes me think of a fraternity type of prank but I guess if it gets the word out about a charity in need of support and it is working for some people than why not.

So many party poopers.
This just goes to show how all these things end up like the game telephone. When it got to me this is how it went: If you accepted the challenge you would make a $10 donation to any charity of your choice. If you declined the challenge you were asked to make a $100 donation to the charity that the person who challenged you chose. Yes $100 is a lot but it was to encourage people to do the challenge and therefore get more people involved. It was just a fun little thing going around FB but it's nice to see that so many people get their panties in a bunch over things like this.
I don't think anyone is getting their panties in a bunch... why aren't people allowed to state their feelings?
They absolutely can. But why can't they just say "Eh I probably wouldn't" instead of "No one tells me who to give my money to!"

Cold water challenge on Facebook
My little cousins were posting it on Instagram but no mention of a charity. I thought it was just a game.

You're right, I think maybe people are just frustrated at being inundated with this stuff on Facebook, and having to either unfollow/unfriend people or just ignore it.

Re: Cold water challenge on Facebook
Ignore, but I ignore game request, chain thing about what status, national "insert something day". The new thing is where you are from.Although, I have started posting the throwback pics on Thursday.
I think the other posters idea would've been better if it was paying a donation for the sender to dump water on themselves. It makes more sense and better incentive. I know it's all in fun but this is asking for a donation with an ultimatum. Not so friendly or appealing when asking for a donation.

A lot of guys in my husbands garage did it and called out everyone in the garage
They all donated money as well as doing it
I think it's a great way to get people to donate who prob would not have anyway and also to have a little fun!
A bunch of DH's Fire Dpt friends were doing it back in April (they were all jumping into freezing cold, just opened pools).
I'm pretty sure the donation was only $50 and they all donated anyhow
This! Im a volly FF and guys were getting challenged left and right. They all did the challenge and they donated to the Suffolk County Burn Center. Its for a good cause, so why not?
