Coming off BCP question

How long did it take to get your cycle to get back to normal? How long should you wait until after coming off BCP to TTC?

I didn't come off the pill yet (next month) but my dr said I can start as soon as I come off, but it may take around 3 months for my cycles to regulate.

However.. it's different for everyone... some are regular right away, for some it takes much longer than the 3 months.....

July was my last period on the pill. I got my August period 28 days later.

I just went to the doctor today and she said to wait 2 cycles before TTC...I dont know why though I think it takes one month to get the BC hormones out of your system....

ive been off since may 1st and its not even close to normal yet...

also you dont have to wait at all to TTC, not for medical reasons. the dr.'s just say to wait so that your cycle goes back to a normal pattern.

I was on the pill for almost 10 years, I came off and my cycles have been 30, 29 and 28 days! I was so nervous about it but its been perfect!

I went off early May and I had 51 days, 36, 39 and I don't think I was O'ing during those cycles.
This cycle, I think I O'd on CD23 or 24. I caught an egg, but was relieved none the less to even see signs of O.

My dr. say to wait 1 month after going off BC before TTC.
My first cycle off was 28 days, then 23 days. I'm approaching the end of my 3rd cycle. Hopefully it will get back to normal soon.

I went off the pill in august after being on it for A VERY LONG time. I got my first period about 34 days later and am now onto cycle 2.
I was told there is no need to wait to TTC when coming off the pill. My doctor told me you are actually the most fertile right after you stop the pill. She said the only reason to wait is to be able to pin point your cycle days if you are to get pregnant so that you know exactly when it happens.

yea, I heard about this.... being most fertile when you first come off.... I really hope that's true!!!

I am keeping my fingers crossed for this as well!!! My doctor also told me you have a greater chance for multiples

My cycles have ranged from 29-40 days. I came off BCP the end of last November. My cycle are more normal now. Now they are 31-35 days.

I went off the pill in July- had one period on my own....Our first cycle TTC and I got my BFP!!!!!

I went off BCP in May. First cycle was 57 days. Second cycle was 46 days. On CD 27 of my third cycle now and still haven't O'd yet. Needless to say I'm NOT one of the lucky ones.


Also-my dr. said we could start TTC immediately after stopping BCP. They usually only tell you to wait so you can regulate and have a more accurate due date.

wow! It really does vary greatly by person! I had planned to stop the BCP in December but now I'm thinking I should stop now just in case I need the extra months to get my body back on track and make sure I O Any symptoms when you first come off of BCP? How long do they last? Thanks!!

Honestly it to me about a full year to get back to whatever normal was for me. It was hard to tell b/c I started taking bc when I was in HS before then my periods were all over the place. After a few months I did start to become more regular but then would have one or two wacky cycles.

I came off the mini pill in the end of June. I got my first postpartum AF about a month after. These 2 cycles since coming off I have had 29 day cycles, but O on day 19, which gives me a 10 day LP. This is not normal for me, so I don't know if it still needs more time to regulate or if this is how my cycles will be now since having DS.

I came off of BC in march and had a "normal" cycle right away around 28 days, but at 6 months off of BC I never got my period, it was a 46 day cycle and I just got it in Sept which only lasted 4 days...I have an appointment today. we started trying in June

Thanks for your advice, ladies I think I'm going to get off asap just in case it takes my body a few months to adjust.

My hair and skin felt more oily and I had a few minor breakouts.
I also felt highly emotional (still do)...I tear up over the silliest commercials.
