Re: Confirmation on a Monday?
Really? I've never heard of that. That sure makes it tough for most everyone to attend. Maybe it was a typo!

Confirmation on a Monday?
That's ridiculous and I'd complain to the church.

Re: Confirmation on a Monday?
Silly, but it is the norm bc the bishops need to preside over the ceremony and I guess the don't do / would have too many church's to do on weekends.

Re: Confirmation on a Monday?
It's pretty common actually. One of my coworkers went to one today at 4 pm I would only expect my immediate immediate family to attend. Like my parents who are retired anyway. And I wouldn't fault anyone for not coming

Confirmation on a Monday?
My niece's is tomorrow at 3!
For as long as I can remember, Confirmations have always been at odd hours during the week, due to the bishops schedule.

Confirmation on a Monday?
Yes. They are during the week now. Occasionally, you can get a Friday night. But this is the norm since they can't schedule the bishops.

Re: Confirmation on a Monday?
I teach 8th grade and it's always during the week - usually a Wednesday where I am. At 1:30 and 4:30....the students always miss the day of school or leave early.

Confirmation on a Monday?
All of my friends' kids have had them over the weekend. This last weekend was full of Communions on Saturday and Sunday.

Communions are usually on the weekends, but not Confirmations- at least in my experience

Re: Confirmation on a Monday?
My confirmation was on a Monday afternoon. It was when the bishop was available.
My nieces is this Sunday upstate with three parishes, so likely to be very crowded.

Re: Confirmation on a Monday?
My son's was on a Wednesday this past March. It's the norm in most parishes on Long Island, and probably in other places too.

Re: Confirmation on a Monday?
when i made mine in the early 90's it was weekends. DS goes to catholic school and we live in PA and they do them on random weekday afternoons.
its all about when they can schedule the bishops.

Confirmation on a Monday?
I can remember back to mine and it was on a Thursday. Confirmations are always mid week I believe.

That's the norm. I remember mine was on a weekday afternoon.
As for parents working, it's a very important day for Catholics so I'd think it'd be a non-issue and they'd take the day off. Parents take off for other less important things (at least in the eyes of the church).

I get that but I'm not the parent, lol.

I would not expect anyone other than very close immediate family to attend if it was during the work day to be honest.

Re: Confirmation on a Monday?
Pretty sure my own confirmation way back when was during the week. It was just me, my parents, and godparents and we went out to eat afterwards.

Re: Confirmation on a Monday?
it is very normal time and day.
I worked for my rectory throughout all of HS and the first couple of years of college. Confirmation was always on a Monday early afternoon.
