If you have a confirmation name, do you consider that part of you whole name?

especially if you were given a middle name at birth.

does anyone except my sister (who was robbed of a middle name when my mom fell asleep w/o completing her birth certificate Chat Icon ) use their confirmation name?

If there is another name for this tradition in another religion, please include yourself, and forgive my ignorance.

to make it easy, i made my confirmation name my middle name.

DH doesnt have a middle name but he doesnt use his confirmation name as his middle name. his name is long enough without it lol.

Re: If you have a confirmation name, do you consider that part of you whole name?

I consider it part of my full name, but I know it's not a legal name, so it's not on any diplomas or licenses or anything. If someone asked me my full name out of curiosity, I'd probably include it but specify that it's my confirmation name. But if I ever need to put a middle name or initial on forms I'm filling out or anything official, I'd use my actual middle name/initial.

My mother always told me that it was unoffical, so you wern't supposed to use it.
I have a middle name, so I don't really need 4 names.
My mother doesn't have a middle name, but she doesn't use her confirmation name, b/c apparently she is a stickler for this rule.

My uncle (mom's BIL) does use his confirmation name as his middle name, b/c he doesn't have a middle name & without it, has the same name as his father. And I think he feels havind a middle initial makes his signature more professional! Chat Icon

No, I don't use it as a part of my name. Half the time I forget what it is since it's never used.

I chose Elizabeth, which ended up being my neice's middle name. No correlation, but I like to think there is!!

I do not have a middle name, so when I was younger and felt "left out" when people would talk about their middle names, I would use mine- BUT, as an adult I do not use it-

I'm the same way... though my married last name is so long, I REALLY don't need any extra names!! Chat Icon

My mom uses hers, but that's b/c she has no middle name. Her sisters did the same thing.

I don't use my middle or confirmation names for anything not directly related to the church.

I don't have a middle name either and I do not use my confirmation name in my name...in other countries middle names are not as popular as they are here...thus the reason I don't have one.

No, I don't consider it part of my whole name. It has no legal bearing, so it's not on any paperwork or anything. I do mention it when people ask, but that's about it!

Re: If you have a confirmation name, do you consider that part of you whole name?

I consider it part of my name, but I don't "use" it for anything.

I do use my middle name or initial on EVERYTHING.

Probably because I have a very common first and last name (and apparently a common first and last name combo)

I don't consider my confirmation name (Monica) a part of my "real" name.
