Confused about infant motrin drops...

Might be a really stupid question....

The age says 12-22 months (or something like that) but the weight is up to 23 lbs. Riley is past that.

Does that mean we move on to children's tylenol? Or is she still on the drops?

Thanks!

Re: Confused about infant motrin drops...

I have still been using the infant motrin. I give Liam 1.875 mL. I asked the ped if that was ok at the 15 month appt and she said yes. He was 25 lbs then and she said that was fine. It works.

Yes the label only starts at a 6 month old dose, but my ped gave me a dosing sheet and we have been using it since she was 2 months old.

I was told over 24 lbs that 1.875 is incorrect at the hospital on sunday. i was giving ds 1.875 ml (hes just shy of 25 lbs) when he had his fever on sat and sun. Not sure if th dosage wasnt strong enough for ds but his fever wasnt going away and he winded up getting febrile seizure.

The hospital gave me a chart with the correct dosage for acetaminophin and ibuprofen(infant, children liquid, children chewable and junior strenght chewable) with the weight.

acetaminphen for 24-35lbs the correct dosage for infant drops is 1.6ml and for the same weight (24-35lbs) in ibuprofen infant drops is 2.5ml

I have the chart the hospital gave me.. if u want i can scan it and email it to u

How do you get him to drink all of it? Do you give several droppers' full, or give from the cup? My DS refused the dosage cup since he's used to the dropper, but he would take like 3 droppers' full of it.

thats the exact reason i still use the infant drops..ds would never take the whole teaspoon(5ml) of medicine at one shot.. for instance the motrin for ds weight is 2.5ml but for childrens motrin its 5ml (the infants is concentrated)
