Contraction Question
hi ladies -
may i ask exactly what contractions feel like??? are they just intense menstural cramps or do they feel very different??
i'm asking because last night i had a bad 'few minutes' and tonight - just NOW - i had a bad five minutes or so of INTENSE cramps...to the point of DEEP breathing....but they have since passed....
i'm just wondering if i'm having contractions... this is my first so i have NO comparison...(i'm 32 weeks, 1 day)...

Re: Contraction Question
I would describe it as intense pain that radiates from your stomach to your lower back.

ITA !! I had what you are feeling and it turned out to be a bladder infection ! I would def. let the doc know and let them decide what to do

Re: Contraction Question
Let your doc know if you haven't already. Sounds like it could be them starting.

I agree.
Cramping is normal. Sharp shooting vaginal pain is even normal (doesn't last long). Tightening is BH.

Re: Contraction Question
I use to ask my OB all the time and she always told me I would just know and she was right.
If you are cramping you could be dehydrated and I would try and drink about a gallon of water or gatorade in an hour and half and see how you feel.

Re: Contraction Question
Honestly mine were just bad menstrual cramps.
When they increased in intensity, i had to stop what i was doing and pause for a second. Just breathe through it.
I had no back pains or stomach pains or anything. Just cramps.

Re: Contraction Question
Mine were pretty bad menstrual cramps but with sharp, stabbing back pain.. the back pain was worse for me than the cramping.

Re: Contraction Question
hi jess! yes for me they started off feeling like period cramps...as they got stronger i had to breath hard through them. i was just like you i had no idea what contractions felt like - i asked the nurse after i got induced if those were cramps or contractions and she said i'd been contracting every 3 minutes so i was like aha! now i know! lol. hope your chubby cheek baby bakes a while longer!!

Re: Contraction Question
I had a strong pulsating feeling in my back that would last a minute or two...then it would release...and the same thing would happen again a few minutes later...it would take my breath away but was not unbearable...I had a c-section before it got to that point!

Re: Contraction Question
okay, so i had a good 5 minutes of horrible menstrual cramps and then was okay (ALMOST reached for the tylenol, but didn't)....
about an hour later, BH started. i only KNOW it was that for sure because my stomach got as hard as a basketball for brief periods of time and i was uncomfortable....
i called the doc a few minutes ago and left a message on the OB Nurse line....today i'm having painful lower back cramping and i'm just not 'as comfortable' as i have been...if that makes any sense...
thank you all so much!!!
